------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Review (spoiler free):

I am like many other people, who see the 2-3 minute movie trailer, and if I like it, I'll put it on my list, if I don't, I'll skip it. It's pretty rare for me to skip a movie...because I'm a movie freak...but even I sometimes misjudge a movie trailer.

This was one of them.

I saw it (trailer), was not impressed, and moved on.

Months later, my sister stops me from what I'm doing, and tells me to watch this movie.

It goes something like this:

Sis: "Have you seen The Man from U.N.C.L.E?"

Me: "Nope. Looked boring."

Sis: "Stop what you're doing and watch it now."

Me: "I'm busy doing homework." *sis looks at me watching youtube videos and shakes her head*

Sis: "Type in 'The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Full Boat Chase Scene Che Vuole Questa Musica Stasera' and watch it right now." *I ignore, she persists, and eventually I give in..because.....I don't think I can handle her nagging me forever.

Me: "Okay, fine. Shut up now." *types in title on youtube and clicks on the video. Watches....*

Me: *looks bored*

Sis: "Just wait for it."

Me: *Exaggerates looking bored and annoyed*

Sis: "Just be patient dammit"

Me: *starting to get interested.*

Sis: *smiles*

Me: *after the halfway mark, having a hard time holding back laughter."

Me: *after video finishes*: "Okay, I'm gonna watch that movie now" >.>

End scene.

                                  ***

I kid you not that that one video sold me. Then she showed me another video (both will be linked below with movie trailer) that made me so excited I watched the movie that same day. Homework be damned.

Here's what you need to know about me: I love comedy. I love action. I love.....this movie. What surprised me was how I actually fell in love with the characters and how invested I became in them. Not in their task at hand - which was little to no concern to me, but only because I was so taken with the characters, they could have been sipping tea and looking at an artwork and I'd be fascinated.

It's pretty rare to impress me like that, considering my sister thinks I'm soulless and have no human emotion (maybe that's why I like comedy so much? To feel less of a zombie?). No matter, the movie was worth my time, and I was so pleased...that when the movie finished, I was dying for a sequel.

I'm happy to say that there actually might be.

You might have noticed by now that I haven't told you much - if anything - about the film. Honestly, the trailer says all that you need to know...but the plot isn't the story, it's how the characters interact thats brilliant. Honestly, IT'S BRILLIANT.

The KGB operative's nonchalant, "I-don't-give-a-shit" attitude(I still can't tell if I love him more or the woman(Gaby)); the CIA's frustration over his 2 unwilling partners; the woman's hilarious, determined attitude. All wrapped up into one: Perfection.

I do have to warn you: there is a hint of romance..BUT YOU'RE GOING TO LOVE IT. I'm no love/romance freak...and occasionally want to throw up from the overdose of happiness in romance movies, but this one was so subtle and hilarious, that you got less than you wanted. I kid you not. I wanted MOARRRRRR.

Also: No love triangle. Bless the Gods. I can't stand love triangles. I'm sick of them in movies and books...and this one (thank you writer and directer *bows*) had none of it (the trailer misleads you into thinking there is one).

Quick plot rundown: 2 unwilling participants go after the woman's (Gaby) uncle who is being forced to build a weapon to help the Nazis. This plot is overdone (which is why I'm going through it fast), but I promise you, this movie is more about the journey than the destination.

Also, while the movie plot is resolved, we are lead to believe that there will be more (come on, they're agents, of course there's always more!!). I'm done gushing over it. If you haven't watched this film, you have been missing out on something amazing.

If you love any James Bond movies...you will love this (actually, I think this movie puts bond movies to shame by how fun this one is).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Conclusion:

I refuse to tell you more than I have.

For the love of all that's good, just go watch it.

You're welcome :)

Before I watched the movie:

After I watched the movie:

Recommend!

Okay...with all the fun aside, I really recommend this film.

This movie has the feel of nostalgia, hilarity, fun, action, and hot men and women to look your fill while you enjoy their antics.

Don't be a fool like I was and waste precious time. Just go watch it.

Thank me later.

Violet, that is a very good point for supporting remakes of movies. In fact Robert Vaughn who played Henry Cavill's character only died within the last 12 months. The actor who played Armie Hammer's character in the original series (David McCallum) is still acting as the coroner in the original NCIS.

      @John.

Heh. I was not even alive another 20 or so years after the show ended.

This is one of the reasons why I'm never as angry when Hollywood revamps a show or movie (even if something sucks, at least it makes us a little more aware of the original existing and maybe even taking a look at that one too)....Along with Westworld(the new tv show). If they didn't remake it to gear it to noobs like me, I would never know such shows/stories ever existed...and I would miss out on some great stuff.

I am old enough to have watched the original Man From Uncle TV series and as it was one of my favourites I had to watch this movie. Like you I wasn't disappointed...it was crazy, exciting, funny..and totally enjoyable. The actors were great in their roles and the character interaction superb. Great review.

I love this film and pretty much anything Guy Ritchie does. I loved this film. Armie Hammer is hilarious and Henry Cavil is great as well. Next to Snatch, this is the best Guy Ritchie film then Rock N Rolla. Great review.
