The Brilliant Actor in Daniel Day Lewis

Daniel Day Lewis is an actor world class. He is a brilliant actor and one who mastered his craft. He is known for his numerous movie in which he either garnered an acting award or critics approval. Definitely he is one of the best actor if not the best in his generation. Daniel Day Lewis is an English actor and appeared in numerous films and it has been said that he take his craft seriously by taking a break for years just to master his role. Daniel Day Lewis garnered numerous Oscars award due to his acting.

My love story begins with Daniel Day Lewis

This is my love story with Daniel Day Lewis. I know that I am infatuated and I like the actor very much, but sometimes I cant separate reality from the fiction. Well, he always looks at me from the big poster that I had of him, and he greets me everyday. Maybe that’s the reason why any man will not feel comfortable being with me, he is imposing himself to the other man. He is always looking at me there every time I enter the room, I never close the room though. It started in 1993, all I could do that time was to watched films after work with my four friends. Cinema is still affordable by then and CDs are not yet as popular as it is now.

Big screen is still the way to enjoy any movie. The first movie of Daniel Day Lewis which I watched is the “In the Name of the Father“, and our love story began, not that he knows about it, but I know it too well in my heart. I was a big fan, and I am always watching him from afar. He doesn’t know that I am his girlfriend already and he will never know anyway, maybe one day.

I seldom watched films except about the old world, meaning stories about Roman Empire, the Greeks, Spartans and the glorious England never fail to amuse me. I don’t know why but I am always fascinated by the costumes, horses and the atmosphere during that time. I like movies like Gladiator, The Patriot, Alexander the Great kind of thing, but with Day-Lewis, he is an exception to my rule. I liked all the films he starred in of course.

I rather watched the news, CNN, BBC or local news, instead of watching any television shows, but when it comes to HIM, I watched all his films ever since I discovered him way back then. I am lucky because there are only few films in which he starred, it means I don’t have to spend a lot of time for him and money too.

Choosing between Steelers game and a movie of HIM, I will be watching both at the same time.

Who is HE anyway?

Daniel Michael Blake Day-Lewis popularly known as Daniel Day-Lewis was born on 29th of April 1957. He is an English actor with dual citizenship, British and Irish. Born to a mother who is a poet and a sister who is a film documenter, film is part of his life. He is married to Rebecca Miller, a film director and they have two sons together. According to his biography he was always quiet and introverted, he said that he was not popular in school and was mocked as an outsider while growing up in England, because he was of half Jewish and half Irish ancestry. The advantage of that he said is that, instead of socializing, he developed a rich fantasy life that later helped him to delve so deeply into his characters.

He is a skilled woodworker and make his living as a cobbler. He is working as a cobbler in Italy in 2002 when Martin Scorsese and Leonardo Di Caprio convinced him to star in Gangs of New York.

He has very few movies because he is said to be very picky in the films he participated and he starred only in sixteen films so far in almost four decades as an actor. According to stories, they said that he is very picky in the role he wants to play. He turned down a role offered as Aragorn (Strider) in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
