Who played the role of spider-man better in the movie "Andrew Garfield" or "Tobey Maguire"?

Comparing both spider-man movies, The spider-man and The Amazing spider-man , who do you think played the role of spider-man better  "Andrew Garfield" or "Tobey Maguire"?

I believe one has to also consider the scripts the actors had to work with.
Personally speaking I'd give the edge to Toby Maguire. He seemed more convincing to me as far as being a nerdy teenager unsure of himself.
The evolution process of discovering what he was capable of  had lots of humor. He had the ability to retain some of his innocence in the world even though he was battling evil.
The romance between him and Kirsten Dunst also seemed more sincere with regard to the characters they were portraying. They seemed like they were actual teenagers.
The best thing about "The Amazing Spider-Man" movies in my opinion is the back story dealing with who his father was and what he was working on. It also alludes to the possibility that it was no coincidence his son became Spider-Man. It will be interesting to see where they go with the story.

Andrew Garfield! He's quirky in a cute way and plays a genius so well, along with the fact that he's good looking and nicely built for the suit. Andrew also has better deliveries than Tobey Maguire when they had one-liners or emotionally charged conversations. Tobey is too feminine and childish looking to be any kind of superhero. I prefer the entire cast of the newer films to the older ones actually (the main actors, anyway).
The Amazing Spider-Man also made Peter Parker seem less pathetic in his pursuit of the love interest, whereas Spider-man's Peter Parker came off as a little creepy doofus, but that's more the filmmakers' fault and not that of the actors. Tobey fit the pre-bitten Spider-man, but Andrew worked for pre-bitten and superhero Spider-man.

Andrew Garfield for me. More by default, because I have never liked Tobey Maguire, I find him awkward in pretty much everything.

In the third movie, when he suddenly became a "badass"...couldnt do it. Had to just ignore that section of the movie cause it was too weird for me.

I like Andrew better, he just seems to sell being Spider Man better than I felt Tobey did.

If you assess the Role of Spider Man, there is more of a human touch to it and Tobey has played it to Perfection.
Andrew has done well too but Tobey is more convincing considering the way the character of Spiderman is originally scripted.

Spidey is my favorite superhero and I thought that Tobey Maguire captured Peter Parker's utter dorkiness perfectly in the first two Spider-Man films. We won't discuss the godawful "3" except to say that he was getting too old for the role by then... however, that was honestly the **least** of that film's problems...)
I've only seen the first Andrew Garfield film one time but I enjoyed it, I thought I would miss Tobey, Kirsten and the rest of the old crew but Andrew did a nice job all around. I'm looking forward to seeing the 2nd one now that it's out on DVD.

Do it! Or the LEGO movie. Either way, you're set for greatness.
