According to various reports, Joss Whedon officially confirmed that the mutant siblings, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver would be introduced in the upcoming "Avengers 2" film.  For those of you who don't know who they are, they're basically mutants, and their the offspring of infamous x-men baddie, Magneto, in the comic books.

Although in the comics, the duo do play a huge role in the avengers, but they started out initially in their father's team, "The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants."

I know some of you are thinking..."Wait a minute...doesn't Fox own the film rights to all x-men characters?"  You're right.  They do, BUT...Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are a completely different story.  Confused?  I'll briefly explain.

According to various reports, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are the only two characters Marvel Studios and Fox have agreed to share.  However, there are a few rules though.  Since it looks like Marvel Studios is using the characters first, they can use them as long they do NOT mention anything about their mutant heritage, or their relationship to the x-men universe in any way (this includes even mentioning that Magneto is their dad).  In fact, Marvel isn't even legally allowed to mention their mutants in a live action movie, to explain why they have their powers.

As for Fox's side of the equation, it's a bit tricky as well.  If in the future fox decides to use those same characters, then they can do so freely.  However, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver CANNOT mention anything that happened with their experience in the Avengers 2 and any other marvel studios film they were featured in.

Anyways, this has caused some speculation that Joss Whedon may end up having to change their origins, to avoid even mentioning that they're mutants, so Marvel studios can avoid a possible lawsuit from Fox.  However, if Fox decides to use the characters later, then won't that confuse everyone?  Anyways, what are your thoughts on this?

Do you think their origins will be changed?  Do you think they should be changed?  Or how do you feel about the news that these two will be in the avengers 2?
