Unfortunately, I'm no longer a big R&B fan! Today's R&B isn't worth listening to, in my opinion. The songs are repetitive and do not tell a story. However, in order for me to answer this question, I would have to look at a couple artist in the past. Artist like Marvin Gaye, Pattie La Belle, Gladis Knight, Teddy Pendergrass, Berry White and Otis Reading. I would consider these artist to be the best, I mean, The Greatest R&B artist of all time!
Of course, this is just my opinion. Now that I have said my piece, I will now answer this question. The answer, based on the artist I mentioned above and a few others I haven't added in this hub, would be.....
I'll explain why. I know this is not the answer most people were expecting. However, I chose Whitney because of the amazing voice she has. I know you heard the saying "voice of an angel". Well, That's Whitney. From the time Whitney took center stage to the movie "The Bodyguard" to her failed marriage to Bobby brown, Whitney took her audience on a journey with her music. As I have mentioned earlier, I'm not a big R&B fan. However, when I heard Whitney sing, its like I'm floating on a cloud of joy and its as if it will last forever, as long as she keeps singing. I understand she was heavily on drugs during her marriage with Bobby, which shouldn't have happened in the first place. But, you have to admit she can sing and do it well.
I have to agree with Terryd for the most part, with the addition Of Aretha Franklin (don't know how anybody could forget her). Peace!!
If they would pay me I would write a hub, it's too difficult to get paid.
