.... but you have to remember that a lot of "marriages" in Africa are Traditional marriages - which means they are not legalised. So, when the couple break up, there is no need for a divorce as the Traditional marriage wasn't legal in the first place.
Hell no. That is so untrue in many ways. First of all, Africa is way part marrying only traditionally. In addition, after the traditional rites, they do the Church thing, or Mosque thing depending. Both forms of marriage are recognized as legal in constitutions. In fact, in most African countries traditional marriages are recognized as legal. Most people take it more seriously and regard as more binding than even that performed in a Church or Court. Seriously. It still goes to prove, Africans hate divorce, its still essentially a taboo.

If they are, how so? and how do they make it legal and have a legal documentThere are various forms of law practised in Nigeria as provided by the constitution. In nigeria we have traditional law. This is the law that makes space for traditional belief systems and traditions. We're Africans, we gotta make room for our culture somewhere in our western constitutions, you know.
