What is the name of the movie? in the late 1970's
i watched a film about a young french girl and a young british boy who meet,...fall in love, have a baby, before the British Father takes the son away, leaving behind his own grandchild. I remember the young girl often said :"You silly Bastard"
Friends (1971) IMDb review: Two teenagers unhappy with their home lives meet by chance in Paris and develop a friendship. English boy (Sean Bury), who is from a wealthy family, is studying in France. Michelle (Anicée Alvina) has been orphaned and taken in by her cousin. On a sudden impulse, they run off to Arles, where the girl's father owned a small house. They make a new life for themselves. Their simulated marriage ceremony, achieved by following an actual wedding in the local church, shows their acceptance of some of the rules of society. It is just the unencumbered innocence of youth that puts them apart from the adults. A baby is born to them, with Paul taking the place of a midwife. Then, the authorities discover them.
There is a sequel:
Paul & Michelle (1974) starring Sean Bury, Anicée Alvina, Keir Dullea / IMDB review: The story begins three years later. Michelle and daughter Sylvie are living with Gary, a young American businessman, in a French coastal town. The three have an almost normal family life in which Sylvie has bonded with Gary. Now a college student, Paul abandons academic life to search for Michelle.
