    Probably, Predator 2, it was far superior to the original.
    However, for an actual remake of an original story has to be in the various remakes of Dickens's, A Christmas Carol.  I always preferred the Alistair Sims version and for a long time it was, for me, the definitive, but then along came Sir Patrick Stewart's version, that is by far the best, serious, version and is becoming the new definitive.

    I can't think of the best, but I can easily think of some of the worst - how about Death Race 2000, The Italian Job or Alfie?

    "The Count of Monte Cristo" is my personal favorite remake, but I bet a lot of women would say "I've Got Mail"!

    Dawn of the Dead.

    It wasn't great, but it was by far one of the best zombie movies made in quite some time, even if you're NOT considering only remakes.
