Old Star Trek vs. New Star Trek?

I honestly dig both. Star Trek Voyager and TNG was in my childhood as well as the original Star Wars trilogy. Don't too fond of the prequels. JJ Abram's Star Trek was near perfect...hmm. Which is better? I choose new Star Trek as it has more Star Wars elements in it. I'm more of a Star Wars guy. You?

Loved both.  The original was when I was a teen, and the ST TNG was on when my kids were small.  I like it the best, better sets, better photography.  Have all the DVD's and watch them whenever I have time alone in my craft room--that or I Love Lucy, or Buffy the Vampire Slayer--how's that for diverse tastes?

Star Trek TNG works for me.  But you also forgot to mention Star Trek DS9.

Old Star Trek vs. New Star Trek..........Star Trek is created by Gene Roddenberry, Captain James T Kirk and New Star Trek:
Captian Jean - Luc Picard  both command the USS Enterprise. The 1st Star Trek was made in 1960's in Black and White..........hmmmm. I like both Star Trek.

I like the newer ones more.  It's kind of painful to watch the older Star Trek.

Although, I do like all of the movies.

Well, my favourite was Star Trek: the Next Generation. I haven't seen the latest Star Trek movie.

I liked TNG but my favorite was DS9. I guess the order would be DS9, TNG, Enterprise, Voyager, and TOS. I guess TOS is last because the technology is outdated.

I definitely loved the new movie. It may rate #1 above all.

Sorry to say I find the new Star Trek to be nothing more than a mad cash grab. I'll take the originals any day. I loved TNG and I also liked DS9/Voyager to a degree.

Well, as you can see from my avatar. I'm a Star Wars fan, but I grew up watching the original Star Trek on TV.  Without Trek, odds are, there would have been no Star Wars.  The main compelling strength that Star Trek always had was it's storytelling.  The writers continually commented on society and human failings in a futuristic setting.  Anyone who thinks that Star Trek isn't a good series has never actually taken the time to truly watch it and is simply judging it on their own misconceptions and prejudices and I would challenge them to actually take the time to sit through one or two episodes before they pass judgment on it.  Star Trek is, arguably, one of the absolute best TV series ever created.  Not too many shows can boast that they've been around for 50 years and counting.  And that alone says everything that needs to be said.  As for me, I'll always choose the original series over any of the sequels, but every one of the incarnations added something new and special to the mix.
