Which movement in Rock Music is your favorite: Rockabilly, Doo Wop, British, Grunge, Punk, or Pop?
Of the ones you listed, my favorites would be grunge and punk simply because I'm into heavier types of rock music. Both have great bands, but neither is my absolute favorite genre of music.
British was really the genesis of a lot of subsequent forms, Punk and New Wave especially. Grunge was the American expression of Punk. But all of it is basically derived from African American roots music from the South.
First off: Rock isn't dead, it's just in hiding and you have to look harder to find it.
That said, I am of the grunge era (and place, I grew up in the Seattle area) and I looooved it. However, I am going to go with punk because of the more-often-than-not political aspect, and being an angry young individual myself who feels there is something very wrong with the world today, punk has given me my favorite form of expressing that anger. RISE AGAINST in particular just hits all the right chords within me and one can easily back a politically charged punk band as a "way of life" more than anything else. I follow RA, and all who came before them/influenced them, for eternity with a fist raised high into the night air.
Definitely grunge, especially Alice in Chains and Soundgarden

Let me start .. Joy Division, because of unique sound. There really wasnt anything like it at the time and since. Many bands model themselves on them and they are thought of as highly influencial. If it werent for Joy division, there may not have been Editor and Interpol, for example.
