Yes, as long as you give credit to whom the photo belongs. Photobucket, 123rf, etc. It is my understanding that this practice is allowed as long as you give the owner of the photos credit.

The thing to remember with photobucket though is that a lot of people post photos their that dont belong to them. So, even by giving them credit, you are still using a photo that isn't supposed to be used in the first place.

You can also try using photos from their own websites, too. They post those for their own promotional purposes, so as long as you give credit to the site, it's a win-win situation smile

You still have to get permission unless it clearly states on their site that you can use the photos.

By finding the photographer, and acquiring the neccessary permissions then paying any fee that is required.

Those types of photo are availible, and are availible to download, I belong to 2 online photo libraries that pay me if my pics are downloaded. The question asked for 'legal', this way is legal

I was implying for "Certain" photos, not all.

Yes, this. Always ask. Always look for the creative commons license.

The best bet for free-use photos of famous folks is WikiMedia Commons. They even have the attribution information right there with the file which you do need in the Apprenticeship Program. They might mot be the glossiest or even the most memorable, but those nicer photos usually are pay-to-use. The problem with some other user-based sites (ie: Photobucket) is that most of them do not own the photos that they are sharing. The general rule of thumb is if you don't know who the photo belongs to, don't use it.

This is a great option. You can also visit television/movie/publicity sites where the actor is most known at. They have a PR link where you can request use of their photos and material.

You can use the photos of famous people from particular websites approved by HubPages such as Wikimedia Commons and Flickr. As mentioned in the Learning Center, you have to state the author's name, license and add url.  For more helpful information, visit the Learning center and click 'Photo Capsule' and then further click 'Legal Use of Images'. Hope this helps. All the best!

When using Flickr, watch for the creative common license. Some arent allowed to be used at all.
