How can I use photos of famous people legally on my hubs?
Is it possible to legally attribute photos of the famous on my hubs? Thanks in advance for your answers fellow hubbers.
Yes, as long as you give credit to whom the photo belongs. Photobucket, 123rf, etc. It is my understanding that this practice is allowed as long as you give the owner of the photos credit.
Thanks J, I appreciate your great and informative answer!
The thing to remember with photobucket though is that a lot of people post photos their that dont belong to them. So, even by giving them credit, you are still using a photo that isn't supposed to be used in the first place.
You can also try using photos from their own websites, too. They post those for their own promotional purposes, so as long as you give credit to the site, it's a win-win situation
Thanks Ronna, I had no idea, you , are a wealth of info! Thanks for your great hubs as well!
You still have to get permission unless it clearly states on their site that you can use the photos.
By finding the photographer, and acquiring the neccessary permissions then paying any fee that is required.
Thanks Mick! That helps me out also... excellent.
Those types of photos are not able to be downloaded.
Thanks JThomp42, that puts a new light on it, and thank you!
Those types of photo are availible, and are availible to download, I belong to 2 online photo libraries that pay me if my pics are downloaded. The question asked for 'legal', this way is legal
I was implying for "Certain" photos, not all.
Yes, this. Always ask. Always look for the creative commons license.
The best bet for free-use photos of famous folks is WikiMedia Commons. They even have the attribution information right there with the file which you do need in the Apprenticeship Program. They might mot be the glossiest or even the most memorable, but those nicer photos usually are pay-to-use. The problem with some other user-based sites (ie: Photobucket) is that most of them do not own the photos that they are sharing. The general rule of thumb is if you don't know who the photo belongs to, don't use it.
Thank you eHealer for asking this question and those who answered. I'm new on HP and had that question in mind.
You can use the photos of famous people from particular websites approved by HubPages such as Wikimedia Commons and Flickr. As mentioned in the Learning Center, you have to state the author's name, license and add url. For more helpful information, visit the Learning center and click 'Photo Capsule' and then further click 'Legal Use of Images'. Hope this helps. All the best!

What is the best way to make legally clear my copyright restrictions on use of my text or photos?I'd like to put a message in my hubs re-copyright. We all have different attitudes on copyright. My view is that I don't mind people quoting a few sentences from my hubs in their work, and I don't mind...

I have written several hubs and only this one has been flagged as low quality. (Shock-Horror)I tried to tweak it yesterday, and I also removed a few Amazon capsules, believing that may have been the problem. However the status is still the same. I wonder if anyone could give me an idea about...

What are some songs about famous people?I plan on composing a hub about songs about famous people. I already have a few in mind, but I thought I would see if anyone was aware of any songs about famous people that they would like to share.

I want to use good photos of my own for hubs, but if I want to get things published soon enough, I have to make the effort to use stockphotos or source photos from somewhere else. Does anyone have any suggestions as to best no cost or very low cost options.

When our hubs were once chosen, we had a way to see what was supposed to be fixed before it appeared on a niche site. Now I don't see anything like that. It could be me, but there was a way to see what they wanted added or deleted. It's very frustrating. Yesterday I was told my hub on Zeus, the...
