    Do you think that most jokes that most people tell make their listeners happier? Why/why not?

    (On average, that is: the average joke told by the average person to the average listener.)

    Laughter certainly generates happiness and so a really funny story does bring on some happiness. However there are some people who do not react to funny stories however funny they are. Pity!

    I think joke telling often benefits the teller.  They get the attention and the listener has the job of appreciating the joke, which means they're supposed to laugh.  Let's hope its a good one.  I think its the teller who's happier, unless the joke just falls flat.
