I recently heard the song "The Gambler" by "Keny Rogers". At first glance, it seems a rather simple song about how a Gambler reads the mind of other players but this song can be interpreted in many ways. It can also signify the life of a person as a whole. I just wanted to share this since it impressed me a lot.
I used to hear this song when I was a kid. My Mom was a big Kenny Rogers fan and it was a huge hit when I was a boy. Yes, the song is really about life, a person's life. It's fascinating to me that someone from another country in this time period would happen upon the song and find meaning in it. Cheers to you, sir.
I happened to come across it in a list of top country songs. The song was really soothing and I generally like songs with good lyrics. The reference to gambling and life was so subtle and interesting. Especially comparing breaking even in poker to dying in one's sleep.
