I wasn’t sure what forum to post this on but it is an interesting read, and I feel for John and can understand where he is coming from.

You are most welcome. Most of us know how frustrating it is to have our articles rejected and not get constructive feedback as to why. It doesn't even matter if it is negative as long as it gives us valid suggestions of what needs to be fixed. I hope the staff see this and contact you.

I normally never had a problem like this when it came to my articles and what I may need to alter in order to be approved. This is the only time that I can personally recall where the "review" provided was so vague and relatively condescending as well. Fingers crossed someone from the HubPages team gets in touch and is willing to work this issue out!

It's unfortunate that he became so frustrated he walked away/took a break. However, I do understand that it can be frustrating to not be understood or to receive no responses. I had an article, "Who Said It? Quotes From Dictators and Presidents" and editors really disliked it.  Wouldn't put it on any site I submitted it to.

Right now I can't get anyone on the team to respond to emails about reviewing articles that have been in the queue for over a week.

Yes, Flourish. I understand your frustration to, especially when you don’t get a reply to your queries. I have read on other forums that writers have been waiting, in some cases, months to hear if articles they have submitted to niche sites have been accepted.
I very rarely submit one but if I have it has only taken a week or two. It probably matters which niche site as well.

I'm sorry to hear about your issues that you're also having with the editors, and I hope the best for you!

After reading this article, I feel so sorry for John Plocar. Thank you so much, John, for drawing our attention to his article.

I believe, such feedbacks with no helpful suggestions are discouraging sometimes. I'm hoping that someone from HubPages read his article and try to contact him in the positive way. smile

Best wishes and Blessings to both of you!!

    John
I hope you continue writing despite this issue with the team.

I'm sure you have valuable words that others need to read.  There are times when Hubpages  seems to not understand the simple needs of us Writer's.

We don't need much, but a little bit of acknowledgment can go a long way.

Hopefully this will bring forth a better discussion with the team...if not, know that the rest of us feel your pain and encourage you to keep writing.

Thank you, Brenda, for your positive words. I appreciate the support and would love to get back to writing again. Unfortunately, I'm conflicted about writing for this site until the issue is at the very least addressed by the HubPages team. Fingers crossed my grievances don't result in being removed from the site completely, but we'll see!

Have you contacted them directly at team@hubpages.com ?  Perhaps that will help clarify the issue?

I have. That was the second set of messages I showcased in my article. They messaged back once asking about which article I was referring to and then I never heard back from them ever again.

I can understand the frustration in this article and the fact that the feedback given was not very adequate .But then as writers we need to be thick sknned (yes I really mean it).Writing is a effort of labour, love and disappoitments and we need to adapt and modify to take every blow and come back stronger.Rejections will happen everywhere and many times the writers are not even told the reason. The best and the only way  is to brush it off and live again for another day, another write. That is it!!!

Yes, I agree Ravi. Writers do need a thick skin because rejection is very common in this field. Thanks for your comment.

I also agree that, as a writer, we must be thick skinned and adapt. I'm an artist and have had to deal with similar obstacles ever since I could pick up a crayon to draw. But this was slightly different to me. It felt like I wasn't allowed to explore certain avenues as a writer, restricting my creative writing in a way that felt somewhat like censorship. A minor form of censorship, but still felt discouraging all the same. I didn't like basically being told I wasn't allowed to delve into certain perspectives or topics and then given a backhanded and vague comment as to "why it was no good." Because of that, I didn't want to support this site anymore if it's going to latch constraints onto my writing in unreasonable ways. I want to be able to write freely without worrying about if I touch on a certain topic then it'll be "not useful for a wide audience outside of my friends and family" as they put it.
