I never liked TV or movies about Vampires till I watched "True Blood"
Can't wait for the New Season June 13th.

    Anyone else like this show?

I've heard that in the book, Sookie ends up with Eric. I hope not.

One of my friends loves the show, but I've never watched it yet. He described it as a darker version of Twilight, so to speak.

I haven't read the books, but the show is pretty addictive. They sure do know how to set up their cliffhangers!

I love Eric Northman.  Bill is such a coward at times.  Anyhow- True Blood is one my all time favorite shows.

Hey Deborah, how are the surgical jobs at your facility?  Man, there are no jobs here in Columbia, MO.  Tough market now?  Or, is it just Columbia, MO?

Hi Intimat..Long time since we have spoken.

I've worked for the same hospital, since even before I became a nurse.
I worked as a biller/collector to help put myself through school.

Our O.R. is booked from starting time to the end of the day.

But the hospital is not hiring any new nurses either

there are significant differences between the books and the HBO series so far -

any association to twilight would be ill-described

I'm a member of the HBO forums and they talk about the books all the time.
The one's who have read the books, think the show sucks. So the books must be really good.

They said in the books, Bill doesn't really love Sookie, and is using her for some secret purpose. She winds up with Eric.

I read many of them - those that i didnt read I listened to in Audiobook format.

Everything you gleaned from the HBO forums is incorrect.

as for the books...harris is a terrible writer - absolutely horrid - but she is good storyteller , she repeats herself a lot.

Alan Ball and the True Blood team are doing a better job with the characters then she did

The last book was awful and the storyline is getting progressively more fantastic - I preferred the grittier/almost reality scenario she began with.

If the Series continues to follow the books they will need a hell of a budget - budget costs killed Rome, which was an awesome show.

I liked it to, but the name 'Sooky' just really annoys me. Dont know why.

True Blood is not dark or scary.
It has Love and Hate. Heroes and Villains

    Watch this coming Sunday

I love True Blood.  I watch the show and I've read the books.

They differ greatly, which is a good thing in my opinion.  Who wants to watch a TV show or movie that completely follows everything that happens in the book.

I won't include any spoilers here, but just know that the romantic relationships outlined in the TV show don't necessarily match what occurs in the books.

This season is a little disappointing but I am sure it will pick up.

In last weeks show, I think Tara got the idea, and is planning on STAKING Franklin. Of course I think she would have to stake them all to get out.

Sookie's powers are coming out more and more.

Eric I am sure will do something now that he knows it was the "KING" who killed his father.

Do you think Jason's new interest is a werewolf?

I love the show, although I thought it slipped a little in Season 2.  The Maryann storyline got tiresome to me.

I've enjoyed Season 3 so far, especially the Bill/Eric/Sookie dynamic.  Am I the only one who much preferred Tara first season when she was all spunk and not in tears all the time?  Also, Jason has become way too stupid, like a caricature.  They need to give him more layers.

Still love the show, though.  It's campy and fun.

I agree with PrettyPanther regarding the characters of Jason and Tara. True Blood delivers with wonderful acting and writing. It can be both comic and downright scary. I saw one of the principle actors say they are getting away from the books, but I believe they need to do this as certain characters become more popular. For instance, in the books Lafayette is killed in the first one. His character adds a lot of humor and flare and is very popular. They were not about to kill him off.

I do think this season (so far) is better than season 2.

    Tonight's episode
"I got a right to sing the blues"
Spurned by Eric, Sookie fears the worst for Bill, whose fate now lies in Lorena’s hands. Fueled by a night of bloody passion, Tara executes a desperate plan to stave off Franklin’s advances. In Bon Temps, Tommy finds it difficult to leave the family nest; Jessica gets her fix from a Merlotte’s customer; and Jason’s romance with Crystal hits a snag, as does Lafayette’s with Jesus. After revealing his master plan to Eric, Russell pays a visit to Louisiana in order to start executing it.

Poor Franklin got his head bashed in by Tara. She didn't sever his head or stake him. Bet he'll heal.
So Sam's brother is made to fight other dogs by his parents.

    Next Week:
Looks like Bill took too much of Sookie's blood to heal,

Tonight "Hitting The Floor" or “Let the Bodies Hit the Floor” **WARNING**SPOILERS
Imperiled by Lorena, Sookie goes to extremes in her attempt to save Bill – with unforeseen consequences. Sam infiltrates a dog-fighting ring to extricate Tommy from his parents’ greedy influence. Jason heads to jail to uncover the truth about Crystal; Summer makes a play for Hoyt’s affections (poor girl); Debbie vows revenge on Alcide; Eric uses Hadley as bait to get information from Sophie-Anne; Russell turns his back on the Authority, and on the Magister.

    This Season***SPOILERS"
True Blood is adding another new character. Holly, a thirty-something mother of two who applies for a job at Merlottes. Her “oddly prescient observations” disturb Arlene

True Blood is casting the role of Claudine Longtime. Described as a beautiful, kind and loving figure who knows a lot about Sookie, she appears to Sookie in a golden vision. However, their utopia is abruptly dismantled when Claudine issues Sookie a mysterious warning.  (The one who plays Claudine has not been chosen yet)

Another character for this episode is Big Bobby, a cruel “white trash dummy” with a large belly; And Frank, a suspicious, dangerous, Louisiana backwoods hillbilly, wearing overalls and speaking with a major accent; Dr. Sekuler, a female doctor who gives Tara some dire news at the hospital; and a patronizing hospital administrator in her 30s who interacts with Jason and Lafayette.
Lafayette has a bitter confrontation with her.

Thanks for getting back to me.  Yeah, that seems to be the case here in Columbia.  All well.

Loved True Blood last night.  Especially the ending, when the King cuts the magistrates head off.  Good stuff.  I cannot wait until next Sun.

I think Eric is going to use Sookie to kill the King somehow. It should be interesting to see how everything goes after the King's appearance on television. LOL

Oh my... you MUST read the books!!  I have all of them and am anxiously awaiting the newest!!  I've only seen 1 or two episodes of True Blood, eh.. it's ok...  LOL  Eric Northman in the books is a total HOTTIE - from what I've seen on the show, they need to get a new guy to play him.  Maybe they should have read the books before making the show!!
