As it turns out, Marvel Studios has decided to recast the title role of Bruce Banner in the upcoming "Avengers" film. What I would like to know is how do you folks feel about that? Do you care? Will it even matter? Please, share your thoughts. By the way, here's the article I found that explains the situation in a lot more detail, for those that would like to know more about why this is happening.

I thought it was a bad move, many people wanting to see The Avengers like the continuity with all the people from the other movies appearing in this one. Edward Norton's Hulk movie wasn't the greatest movie ever but was good especially compared to the one from 2003.
Regardless I'll still see the movie but I am unhappy about it and I'm sure it won't stop others from seeing it as well.
well, i guess we'll have to wait and see. although after seeing how convuluted the story was for "Iron Man 2" when they tried to cram in too much stuff into the movie, I'm personally skeptical about how it won't be that way with "The Avengers." As now I'm thinking with or without Norton, I doubt seriously this movie will live up to the hype. I could be wrong, as I was about "X-Men" a few years back. However, I just have serious doubts the Avengers will live up to the hype.
With all the time energy and money they're putting into interlinking all these movies I really hope they have a good story. They signed Samuel L Jackson to a 9 picture deal to show up in all these movies. If they don't manage to bring it all together I will be very disappointed. We still have Thor and Captain America to see how they start bringing it all together. I do have to agree though about jamming too many people into a movie, X3 had so many they just started killing them and Spiderman 3 suffered from having too many characters as well.
I heard that Mark Ruffalo is in talks over the Hulk role. I love Mark Ruffalo but he is no Bruce Banner. I thought Ed Norton was perfect in the role but sadly Liv Tyler ruined that movie for me with her terrible acting.
I too have my worries about The Avengers. But it's still a long time coming so who knows. We'll have to see if Thor and Captain America are good in the meantime.
Do not care.
He was fine when he played the role, but there's not going to be any room for Bruce Banner as a character in The Avengers film. At most he'd get five minutes of dialog while the other characters whose movies actually made money get to beat up a giant green CGI monster.
So you have high expectations for The Avengers, huh? lol
I really hope characters end up mattering a little more than that.
same here. i think it's going to come down to story and character development if you ask me. That's why I'm really hoping that the rumors that Ant-Man and Hawkeye being in the movie aren't true. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind seeing them in a sequel or something, but I think with this being the first super hero team up movie ever, Marvel can't afford to screw this up. That's why I hope for their sake they'll stick with those six members of War Machine, Black Widow, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and Hulk; as that's already going to be a lot to introduce into one film. Plus, we still haven't heard who the villain might be in this upcoming Avengers film yet. Sure, there's Loki, but will he have help? Or what devious scheme will he unhatch that would call for all these heroes to join forces to stop him that they couldn't do alone.
I'm sure the movie is fine, but ensemble casts aren't going to allow for a lot of time to showcase an actor. Especially when the actor will be replaced by a giant CGI mute.
i agree with you there. although after seeing how convoluted iron man 2's plot was when they tried to shove a lot of stuff into it, makes me highly doubtful this film will live up the hype. I could be wrong, and I hope i am too. However, I just have a feeling "The Avengers" isn't going to be as great as the hype around it. As I'll still go on record to say that the best super hero film to look out for in 2012 will be the third Batman movie, directed by Nolan. Now that film will be better than the avengers, hands down!
Edward Norton is an awesome actor. He was great in Primal Fear. At least, I think that was the name of the film??
if your talking about the film where he plays a man that's allegedly accused of a crime by the church, and also stars Richard Gere, then yes. Your right about the name, and the fact he was awesome in that movie as well. Although I'll still go on record saying his best film was "Fight Club." Sure, it was violent and gory as heck, but it was still a great psychological thriller about a man's struggle through corporate commercialism, while dealing with deep psychological issues that cause him to revaluate his own identity. In fact, I loved how he even described how the "Incredible Hulk" film was similar to "Fight Club." Where the Hulk is Banner's Tyler Durden.
I love Fight Club. He's also really good in American History X. He plays a neo-nazi.
oh yeah, i love that movie too. thanks for reminding me about that one. he was great in that one also. The ending to that film was a bit sad to me, but it was kind of ironic at the same time if you know what i mean. I won't come out and say it for those who haven't seen "American History X", but i do agree with you girlincape, that movie rocked too.
I liked Norton, but he is so skinny. I could never believe that someone that small could become the hulk. jael
Well, that's kind of the "point" of the Hulk. 98 pound weakling rages out into a giant Id fueled wreckingball.
Norton is an awesome actor, it seems a bit stupid to change it again, it will end up like the old 90's batman movies, a different actor everytime.
I think Norton was done wrong by this switch, and it makes The Hulk look the most troubled of all the Marvel franchises because they're changing leads (both male and female) every time along with directors. That doesn't give fans, casual movie-goers, or investors much confidence that all things Hulk are being handled rightly.
I can't put my finger on exactly why, but I have never cared for Norton's onscreen work. The idea of him playing the Hulk is just wrong to me. I suppose if by day he is to be compared with the unassuming Clark Kent/Superman match, there may be some credibility to the choice, but still, I just don't see him as the right screen presence to play Hulk. Sorry, just my take.
There is a subtext about some little dramas when Hulk was released. Apparently there was a falling out with the studio and it hit entertainment tabloids. I don't think Norton is all sweetness and sugar. I think he's cunning and difficult, and in the end, I believe that's why he was replaced. That's a guess, not a fact. But there is evidence to support this idea.
Maybe it's because I'm not a fan of Edward Norton, but I don't really care that he's not coming back.
The only reason I even saw The Incredicle Hulk was for Tim Roth and Tim Blake Nelson, and I think Edward did okay in it.
bana was way better then norton as bruce banner and mark ruffalo would be worse then norton. I hope its some one from a tv show or new to moves.

Anybody claiming that The Avengers is the best film they've ever seen obviously has not seen many films, or has an extremely short memory. I'm pretty sure these people were the same ones who were saying that Avatar was the best film ever, and before that The Dark Knight, and before that The Lord of...

As it turns out, Mark Rufallo was cast as the new Bruce Banner in the upcoming "Avengers" movie. Plus, Jeremy Renner was cast to play Hawkeye. For those unfamiliar with Hawkeye, he's essentially a skilled marksman that shoots people with a bow and arrow. He's supposed to...

Joss Whedon mentioned how one of the characters might die in Avengers 2 in 2015. However, lets not forget that he did allow Agent Coulson to die, but that turned out to be false because the character is set to star in Marvel's Agents of Shield this fall on ABC. And, the show takes place...

Who is your favorite superhero in The Avengers?

I just saw Wall-E tonight and loved it, so much that I even wrote started a Hub for it. I plan on seeing Wanted tomorrow, I've heard some good talk about it. However I was really disappointed with Adam Sandler's Zohan and Mike Meyer's Love Guru. The commercials built them up so much,...
