Book "The Gold Coast," by Nelson de Mille. (I don't think it's been done?).
The interplay between the couple, Paul and Susan, and the mafioso living next door is exceptional in modern literature, I believe, and is the best book (from many) De Mille has done, in my humble opinion. (There is a sequence, "The Gatehouse," and any movie could run them together).
