Best selling toddler books

Updated on August 14, 2011

In this article I will share some of my favorite best selling toddler books. The books can be divided into two categories: books which give advice to parents of toddlers and books which you read to toddlers. We will look at the best of each type.

Toddler 411

This is a very popular general toddler parenting book. A great gift for first time mothers. The author, Dr. Ari Brown, is a pediatrician but her writing style is down-to-earth and her advice is focused on common sense.

The book focuses heavily on minor toddler conditions like constipation, rashes and teething. It can be used as a handy reference guide, for those kinds of ailments.

Brown bear, brown bear

This is an education book for younger toddlers. The way it unfolds is: "Brown bear, brown bear, what do you see? I see a red bird looking at me. Red bird, red bird, what do you see?" The idea being to teach toddlers about colors and animals. Toddlers seem to relate well to the repetitive nature and the attractive pictures.

Toddler cafe

Toddlers go through phases in which they can be very picky about what they eat. This can make giving them healthy and tasty food problematic. This book is filled with fun and delicious recipes for toddlers, each recipe is accompanied by a beautiful picture and the recipe frequently includes ideas for variations. These dishes are sure to be a hit with both you and your toddler.

The going to bed book

The going to bed book is a great bedtime story book for toddlers. In the story there are som animals on a big boat and they are getting ready for bed. The book shows them bathing, dressing and then brushing their teeth. Throughout the story has a lullabye-like undertone to it.

First Art

Experimenting with art is a very important part of a toddler's development. This book will help guide you and your toddler on a journey of expression.

The ideas in this book is targeted at toddlers, but if you have older kids they will also have fun joining in the art projects.

Most parents find that participating in an art project with their toddlers can bring them closer in a way nothing else can.

Where Is Baby's Belly Button

Where is baby's belly button is a very well know best seller, you might have heard about it before. Each page of the book asks: "Where is baby's ...?" Toddlers love lifting up the flaps to find the hidden pictures. I think this book is especially good at helping toddlers age 12-24 months with their fine-motor skill and with recognizing their body parts.

Potty Training

Potty training can be stressful for parents and toddlers. You should get this book when they are 12-16 months, because it doesn't just help you with potty training, it also helps you prepare your toddler, before hand.

The book starts out with a quiz to determine your child's personality type, it then explains some universal potty training techniques. After that they give specific methods for your toddler's personality type. I found it to be a very effective approach.

The little mouse, the red ripe strawberry, and the big hungry bear

The book is all about a mouse and his great big red strawberry. A sense of suspense is then created by the big strawberry loving bear. In the end the book is all about learning to share.

The book is beautifully illustrated, well written and filled with humor. I can recommend it for toddlers of all ages.

Setting limits with Your Strong-Willed Child

Having strong willed toddlers or young kids can be a strain on your sanity. This book shows you how you can get your toddler to behave better without spending more time and effort on discipline. Ultimately the book tries to get your toddler to have the self control to behave well, even when you aren't there. This prepares them better, for the real world, in my opinion.

Setting limits is a real life saver for parents with discipline problems.

If you enjoyed best selling toddler books you should also read toddler wii games and learning toys for toddlers.
