I am vegan, and my boyfriend is not.  How do we raise our children without fighting over meals?

He thinks our children should eat meat, I don't.  We both agreed that we will let out kids decide on their own.  But until they reach the age when they can choose by themselves, should we feed them his diet, or mine?  Both are healthy, and encouraged my doctors.

I agree, however, they will not be able to intelligently make that decision until they are around 4 or 5 years of age.  I want them to be well informed of all the options, and so up until the age of 4 or 5, what are we supposed to do?

Here's a tip to a long and successful relationship with someone: have the same values.  If you don't have children at the moment with this man I would reconsider your choice of mate.  I have seen so many women marry men thinking they would change only to end up getting divorced.  If you want to raise your children vegan I suggest you find a vegan man.

Children as young as 18 months old, know whether a food appeals to them or not.   They have no interest in dietary concerns, but eat because they are hungry and it tastes good to them.  Put a small variety on their plates, let them eat as they may........fill in nutrional gaps as necessary.

I'm pretty lucky in that department because I'm a vegan and partner is a vegetarian (he recently transitioned). When I became a herbivore, he was still eating meat and he felt like we couldn't share things like we did before so he started eat less and less meat until he ate no more. We have had discussions before about our kids and how they should be brought up (vegetarian or non vegetarian) I want my kids to be vegetarians but he was really in disagreement with me for many years (we don't have children we just always discuss these things) I think that the health benefit of not eating meat outweigh the meat eating diet in the long run. Sometime doctors fail to think about all the things meat can do to a person and how badly it is digested. If you want your kids to have balance I'm sure you can come up with some ways of healthy options with both vegan and meat meals. Good Luck
