No I think it is a disgusting exploitation of children ! I think about that poor Jon Benet Ramsey little girl , she did not look like a child , she looked like a toddler Barbie . People who would do that to their children repulse me !

Beauty contests increases the confidence in a child , by getting the guts to face an audience.

There is no valid reason to exploit a child, particularly a child who isn't even a teenager, by putting them into a pressure-filled situation like a beauty contest.  It is abusive, it is emotionally damaging (because it places children into an adult-type situation that even adults often can't handle), it is unethical, and it is flat out wrong.  As for the notion that it builds confidence in children, that's totally incorrect--appropriate love, guidance, specific boundaries, consistency, and more love from parents are what build confidence in children, not beauty pageants.  People who put their kids in pageants should have their heads examined and their parental privileges revoked.

Though I'm still young and don't have any children, the type of 'beauty contests' they have now are repulsive and tend to be based on more the parent' self-satisfaction than the child's best interests. Today's beauty contests, from what I have seen are little more than shallow and gaudy ordeals that often instill children with chronic self-esteem conflicts. For lack of a less cliche saying, the outside of of little importance compared to the inner content. The crust of the earth is all humanity currently utilizes, but untold resources could be found within the earth's mantel and core which are incredibly more vast and powerful.
