How do you pick out baby names?

Like everything else in our marriage, there are months of negotiations involved and then someone gives, most likely using the leverage gained from giving in to strengthen their position for something else, such as a room color. How do you do it?

There are many ways of picking a name. Honoring family members is a great way of picking out a name. If you feel like it is to hard to pick a name for someone you haven't met, then wait till he or she is born. You baby doesn't need a name right off the bat, you can get you know your baby and decide what his or her name should be then.

Sometimes I pick the name of an ancestor, parent, or grandparent. Other times, I pick a name that means something, sounds pretty, or is used by someone in literature. A good name is something that someone, who will one day be an adult, will be proud to call themselves. I would never name a child something overly "unique" or something that only sounds good on a baby.
