   Do you and your family have Sunday lunch together every week as was once customary?
   
   Did you used to have a roast for lunch with everyone?  Have you stopped doing that?   Why?  What do you do instead?

   When we were kids, every Sunday my father would put a roast in the oven before we went to church.  Upon returning home the smell of the slow cooking roast and veggies could be smelt clear out into the yard,once inside your mouth couldn't take the smells without watering.  It was mine and my brothers job to set the table,in the dinning room and with the good china of course.  My dad would then pull the roast from the oven and place home made  biscuits inside.  The smell of baking bread was my favorite.  After dinner, dad would take a nap as my mother delegated who cleared,washed or dried the dishes.  Once everything was washed and put away we would load back up in the car for a ride to our grandmothers.  There we would spend the day raking and burning leaves or long drives looking for yard sales.  Later in the afternoon my grandmother would make tea and biscuits for a snack.  Later that evening we would return home for a light dinner witch consisted of usually grilled cheese sandwiches and spaghetti-o's.  The best part was, we were allowed to eat in the living room in front of the TV watching " Mutual of Omaha's wild animal Kingdom," and " The Walt Disney special."  Sunday's were the best day of the week in our house!  We continued this for years!  In my house, we still eat as a family, maybe not big roast on a Sunday, but we still gather around the table and enjoy each other!

      What a wonderful answer.  Thank you.  We to used to put the joint in before going to Sunday church, then come home and the house smelt so wonderful. We always ate a Sunday lunch together too, wonderful memories.

   I have missed you.  Yes, whenever possible we have a wonderful lunch together but it is less possible as my soon to be teenage son has so many interests outside having lunch with his dear Mom.  He is Italiano so you know what he is thinking about....how to make more Italianoes.  He is a very industries fellow.
   
   So I invite the girls to lunch and then as a consolation prize my son shows up.

   We do not have a specific day, as we never know who might be working when, but we all get together at least once a week and share a sit down meal and catch up. I figure since the kids are teenagers now that I am lucky to get that! LoL

   I wish we did but much of my family lives in other states. The immediate family does have dinner together on Sundays though. I love when the whole family gets together which tends to happen on special occasions.

      Sounds like you're all making it happen as much as you can. My family are sprawled round everywhere and so we can't get together. Miss Sunday lunch.

   My brothers and sisters have arranged gathering in special occasions as well as festivals. So, in a year, we will meet at least 15 - 20 times.

   Yes, I always had roast lunch with M & D when at home as a child.  Now we do so only when we have company, such as the children or other guests.  It's important to keep the traditions going and to have a sociable eating activity when everyone can chat, exchange opinions and tell us about their week.  Keeps the family together and they look forward to it.  We also do the 'English Sunday lunch' to entertain our French friends when in France - they love it! (as well as the traditional English breakfast)

      We always used to eat a family roast on Sunday.  But because we live in Italy and somehow because a roast is not what they do here, we have stopped doing it - such a shame.  Thanks for your answer; I wish we still upheld the traditions.

   Not lunch, because of extracurricular sports. BUT we do have Sunday dinner together every single week. It's the only meal that all 8 of us are together.

   I live in Germany now so I obviously don't get to see my family that much, but when I do go back home I have Sunday lunch with my mum and my nan. I know that my mum has lunch or dinner with my nan quite often, whenever she can convince my nan to cook for her haha! I think it's important that families get together regularly, otherwise it's so easy to let things slip when everyone is leading their own lives. One of the only things I don't like about living in Germany is that it means that I don't get to spend as much time with my family (and I always have to cook for myself!)

      So your mum and nan have Sunday lunch and think of you!
      I think it's important for families to get together as regularly as possible too, otherwise life gets in the middle and takes that special time away.  once it's gone, it's gone.
