6 year old child still bed wetting at night.
My child has his dinner at 8pm because we work late. He doesn't drink milk except a cup of plain water. He does urinate in the toilet bowl before sleeping. However, he still does bed wetting on his diaper. We don't have a maid and he follows us wherever we go. What should I do?
Let me first state that nothing at all could be wrong regarding the bedwetting, but I'm puzzled by your commet that " We don't have a maid and he follows us wherever we go. What should I do?" Are you saying that your son follows you everywhere? I'm confused - please clarify
yes, he follows us wherever we go to work. Our work is freelance, sometimes we had to go onsite (customer's office). Our work is not office job. Furthermore, no one is at home to take care of him. Both my hubby and I are working together, same job.
I'm not sure what this means "We don't have a maid and he follows us wherever we go. What should I do?"
My 6 yr old boy also still wets the bed, not every night, but it got to the point where we decided to use pull-ups. Before I was changing sheets every night, and using a mattress protector. Before we got the pullups we tried to wake him periodically to use the bathroom through the night, we don't allow him to drink anything at least an hour before bedtime, and have him "go" before bedtime as well. He is also a VERY heavy sleeper.
If you are concerned this is a health issue and not just a "growing pain", I'd suggest seeing a doc to rule out diabetes. Other than that, I think some kids just need more time for their mind and bladder to work together.
Good luck! I'm sure it will work out eventually
Try not to show your stress to your child. The diapers and training pants of today wick wetness away so your son doesn't feel the cold, unpleasant wetness that normally awakens a child. It's more work to change wet bed linens, but allowing him to feel wet underwear/PJs will help him wake up to pee. Be patient. He will get there!
thanks for yr comfy words. I really need that! I did try waking him up for a pee at night, 2 hours after he fell asleep, he would pee and stay dry until the morning. But, he won't be able to wake up on his own. Take more time?
Make sure you have a waterproof mattress cover, then, instead of pull-ups or goodnites, let him wear regular underwear or pjs so that he will wake up from feeling wet on his own.
Yes, give it more time, eventually, slowly there will be fewer wet sheets. I also think pullups might be useful. Hang in there -- this too will pass.
My 6 year old nephew is a great bed wetter. He spent the month of December with me, in which I made sure he does not drink lots of water before bed. I told jim repeatedly he must not wet his bed and made him understood. His mother now tells me that being with me has broken his bed wetting curse.

My daughter's dog (a terrier and almost 7 months old) pees everywhere. I know why - she has been caged during the day when my daughter is at school and my daughter's dad refuses to 'do' anything with the pup.Which, by the way, is a clever and responsive animal.Anyway - she's been allowed to pee on...

My son was punished by his father for wetting his pants by "squeezing his penis really hard."...Would you agree that this is abuse? I know every parent will eventually overreact to something their child has done in negative way; I dont think this is just a case of yelling or spanking over...

How to prevent a five year old pre-schooler from bed-wetting at night? My son had his feed 1 hour before his sleep. He will pee often and pee again before he sleeps at night. However, he still wet his diaper when he wakes up in the morning.
