Why do babies smile when they sleep?

Is it because they dream or something else?

I think it may be that their nervous system is developing. If you watch babies while they sleep they move the muscles in there faces in all different expressions. If it's not this perhaps they do see faces in their dreams that would make them smile like mummy or daddy's.

You have given the scientific reason to the question. Is there any thing else related to it?

It is a mixture of things- Their bodies are developing and their muslces are allowed to do as they please while they rest. They also dream and feel comfort in their situation.

      A satisfactory answer.

    That is a mystery.
It maybe due to the fact they are comfortable, or content.
Don't forget a baby's brain is really growing.
It does so much developing that first year of life.
Maybe they are dreaming or recalling being in the womb.

Oldies once said they were being chased or played by their angels. Whatever could be the reason behind those baby smiles, it really brings joy and  happiness to their parents heart.

babies smile when they are asleep because they are content with their life.
this shows that the parents have provided the proper love and attention to the little one before the child has fallen asleep.
contented adults do the same thing.
