What is it like to be raise by ur big brother or sister rather then ur parents?
We do here story like this, the big bro or big sis got big age gap with their younger bro or sis and after the parents died, the big bro or sis raise the kid, who is maybe only still 4, 5 or 6 years old. For example, pop star Usher raise his younger brother. I always wonder, what is that like?
The closest example I can think is the TV show Party of Five.
In the US, there are very few cases of siblings raising siblings because of smaller family sizes. You almost never have parents dying with a 20 year old available to take care of a 5 year old; the more common case is parents dying and two or more siblings close in age go to foster care or another relative.
When the siblings are raising younger siblings, you have a high rate of poverty historically because it is as difficult as single motherhood but made worse by lack of experience. Because it is so difficult, this is why AIDS orphans with teenagers and younger children move in with grandparents - to have help, any help, from any involved adult.

Why do parents of large to very large families tend to delegate the raising of the youngerchildren to the oldest sibling? Many parents from large to very large families (6 or more children) state that they have little or no part in raising their children, they purport that they...

When is the right time to speak to your younger sibling about sex?Let's face it - most of us hated it when our parents gave us "the talk" - so for those of us who have a younger brother or sister when do you think it is most appropriate to discuss sex?

I was born and raised in one area and then after getting married have lived most of my life far away from my siblings. It has been hard to keep the relationship going, although it really was never that close to begin with - how about yours?

My theory is that most people seem to like whatever place they've ended up with among their siblings. Most also do seem to have a few minor gripes about it. Without considering anything you've ever read in books about birth order, what's your own personal take on your own place in the...
