      Interpretation:
"I think some parental behaviors can have a negative impact on a child. Parents who continuously find fault with their child and/or set limits which are too restrictive can cause the development of unconscious negativity."

I agree. children need to play and they need to explore. The limits must be clear, consistent and not overly strict.  Limits however, set for the safety of the child are necessary.

The child needs to be accepted for who he is. The inner-life of his mind and soul must be respected. After all, children come to us from heaven and naturally possess a sense of joy. This sense of joy can be protected with an attitude of positivity, wholesomeness and acceptance on the part of the parents/caregivers.

I think the worst thing you can do to a child is assign limitations to them mentally.  A child's potential when they're young is limitless.  If you tell a child that they're only capable of so much, and tell them that they'll never be smarter than one of their siblings, or constantly stress how a sibling or another peer of theirs is better than they are all the time, then they will develop mental barriers that will prevent them from growing into their full potential.

When parents do not follow what they preach to kids then it is not done and kids are not going to follow either. Besides, being dominating and overbearing just because you are a parent is not cool. A parent needs to have a compassionate and caring attitude with scope of listening to own kids. To create a positive atmosphere, parents need to amend their attitude first. Chk this-

This post says a lot on what parents need to do to create a healthy relationship with kids.
