First you have to see their point of view on your point. they are kids and they do not process as adults do. One way I get my children to listen better to me is I get down to their level, look them in the eyes and tell them what I need them to hear, then I ask them to repeat it. This way I know that they heard me and if they don't listen, they get a time out in their room.
