Note:

Cooking time error on the video: The cook time may be closer to 20 - 25+ minutes. Check the patties in 5 minute intervals. The patties are done when they are golden brown around the edges. The cheese should be slightly crispy on the outside edges. They are so yummy with a Parmesan cheese crust!

Baked Mini Caesar Parmesan Turkey Burgers

Julius, my two year old, helps make these Baked Mini Caesar Parmesan Turkey Burgers in the above video. The meat patties form a crispy cheesy crust, which makes this recipe a delight! Make these mini burgers for your next toddler party and they are perfect as Hors d'oeuvres for adults too! Leftover patties can be frozen so that a quick snack or meal is available for your child; a great idea for the busy mom. Reheat the leftover patties, a few at a time, for just a minute in the microwave.

Julius liked the mini burgers, but he asked for seconds on just the turkey meat patties and even thought they were cookies. He loved them! You know this makes me happy, because it's sometimes hard to get our toddler to eat meat, so maybe I'm onto something here!

Mini Burger Ingredients

  • 1 LB Ground Turkey
  • 1/2 Cup Parmesan Cheese
  • 1/4 Cup Quick Oats
  • 2-4 TBS Caesar Dressing
  • 1 TBS Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 Egg, Scrambled
  • Pinch Salt & Pepper, To Taste

Build-A-Burger Ideas - (Choose Your Own)

  • Hot Dog Buns - 4 to 6 Cut into Thirds
  • Cheese Slices - 6 Pieces Quartered
  • Lettuce - 6 Pieces Quartered
  • Tomato - 6 Slices Quartered
  • Pickles - Halved or Quartered
  • Caesar Dressing

Cut the hot dog buns into thirds and place on a greased cookie sheet. Cook at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 6 minutes, then flip the buns and cook an additional two or three minutes. When assembling the burgers, try not to put too many ingredients on the burger, or your toddler will have a hard time eating it. My toddler would have been happy with meat and cheese.

Have you ever mixed cheese into your burger patties for a crispy crust? It's so yummy!

About the Ingredients

My family uses ground turkey in the place of ground beef. Ground turkey has 1/2 the saturated fat than 85% lean ground beef. Using oats, in this recipe, will help your toddler feel fuller longer, but you can also substitute bread crumbs. Caesar dressing can be kind of strong, so my recommendation is to use between 2 to 4 tablespoons in this recipe. The egg acts as a binder to help the patties hold their shape before and after cooking.

Mini Burger Patty Instructions

  1. Set oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Put the turkey burger patty ingredients in a mixing bowl. Stir the ingredients together until thoroughly combined.
  2. Spray your mini muffin pan with nonstick cooking spray. Set the pan on top of a cookie sheet. Distribute the mixture evenly with a melon baler in your mini muffin pan. Flatten each patty down with a spoon.
  3. Cook for about 20 to 25 minutes; more or less time depending on your oven. The patties are done when they are golden brown and crispy around the edges. Check a center patty to ensure it is cooked.

How to assemble your mini burgers:

This really is up to you, but we first used the bottom hot dog buns, a dime size portion of Caesar dressing, a slice of cheese, piece of lettuce, 3 small crispy pickles, the turkey patty, and finally the top bun secured with a toothpick. Please remove the toothpick(s) before serving the burger(s) to your toddler.

Note: As mentioned earlier, using less ingredients on your mini burger is better for your child. They will have a hard time eating a "loaded" burger. My toddler would have been just happy with meat and cheese between the buns. In fact, Julius loved these meat patties by themselves. He thought they were cookies and kept asking for more.

Thank you! :)
