The first time I have savored basmati rice; I told to myself this is one of a kind that no other rice in this world can have the very same distinctive taste.
The brown version of basmati rice has subtle nutty flavor, which make it even more special.
Some rice expert believe that this rice has a lot more character as it mature in storage before reach its best flavor and fragrance, that a lot of people are crazy about.
In other words, the best way to choose basmati rice is to look for the one that has been stored for few months to reach maturity, which means they will bring more deep and plentiful flavor in return.
Kind of reminding us with wine, the quality is getting better the older they are. This unique species was first discovered in India, mostly grown on lower hill of Himalaya, and also been widely cultivated in Pakistan.

People have their own preparing method, but you probably want to enjoy the rice in a more traditional, and original way of cooking, the one simple method that will not fail to satisfy your taste bud.
Cooking basmati rice in rice cooker will never be as better as cooking it in a bowl or sauce pan, the traditional way.
However, you if you still prefer the more practical rice cooker than you are good to go; the rice will still have a very good taste in my opinion.
The first step before cooking is to wash the rice, you might want to wash and rinsing them two or better three times to make sure it is really clean from any possible dirt or starch.
Now get around 2 cups of rice wash them couple of times, and soak them in cold water, leave it for about half an hour. Why soaking it? Soaking offer some benefits, make the rice to have lighter texture and shortened the cooking time.
What more important is soaking will remove any impurities left. Now after thirty minutes, drain the rice.
Get about 3 .5 quart of water into a 5 quart sauce pan and let the water to boil. After boiling get the rice into the boiled water and keep stirring for half a minute to avoid the rice get stuck on the bottom.
Leave the rice to boil for about 5 minutes, don’t put the lid on, leave it open. After 5 minutes, turn the heat off, get the rice to drain, you might need strainer, or sieve, and separate any water from the rice, and now ready for serving.
