Crock Pots for Great Recipes

Updated on February 12, 2018

My Experience

I received a crock pot during the first few years of my married life, as a gift. It was nice, but it sat on the shelf in the closet, hidden from my view. Needless to say, it did not get much use. I did not see the value of this pot of gold until this past year. To spend a little time in the kitchen in the morning and return home to a hot meal is a commodity that I appreciate beyond words. I don't like to slave over a hot stove on a daily basis. As I use my crock pot more and more, those days of late afternoons over a hot stove are fewer and fewer.

I also find that the food tastes better if it has simmered for most of the day in my crock pot on a low temperature. If you use a recipe that has a good broth mixture or sauce, you will have a great dish! The size of a crock pot or slow cooker also provides some amount of leftovers with our small family. A large family can easily cook enough for their main dish with a crock pot!

Crock Pot Users Make Great Recipes

If you don't have a crock pot, you need to get one! This small appliance has made my life so much easier. This little gem cooks better than any restaurant and is a lot less expensive! It can do the same for you!

Prices for the crock pot are extremely reasonable. If you are going to invest in a crock pot and plan to use it on a fairly regular basis, I recommend purchasing one that is programmable. As you leave for work in the morning, the pot can be programmed to cook at a higher temperature for several hours and then reduce to a simmer for the rest of the day!

Cleanup with my crock pot is easy. The inside dish comes away from the electrical pot very easily. Two minutes of soaking with a little soap and it wipes clean. Wiping down the outside of the pot from drips or spills is easy and quick. Some days, I wash the crock pot and just leave it out because I want to use it again and again.

Dinner's Ready

Having guests for dinner after work? Arrive home to the aroma of your dinner and fix some quick sides to easily serve dinner? Most families arrive home in the evening and want dinner quickly. Try a pot roast or chicken in your cooker! Your main dish is already cooked when you walk in the door!

There are numerous recipes available for your crock pot. I have included some of my family recipes in my personal blogs - spaghetti, soup, chicken. There are other recipes available on line. In addition, you can find entire cook books dedicated to recipes for the crock pot. I recently received a recipe for candy made in the crock pot. Easy enough!

Which one will you choose?

I found a crock pot at a garage sale a few summers ago and it was the best $5 (or less, can't quite remember now...) that I've ever spent! When it dies I will have no qualms spending more for a sleek and shiny brand new crock pot. :)
