10% if the service was average, 20% if the service was exceptional (one time I did give a 100% tip...the waitress was extremely pregnant and it was obvious to me that she was struggling because of her physical situtation). But if the service was really bad....0%.
Generally, it is based on the service rendered or 15% of the total bill would be a good rule of thumb.
Here in the USA a server usually makes about $2.40 a hr and really relies on tips to make a decent wage and I think it is plain tacky to not leave a tip, If I don't have enough money to leave a tip I would rather stay home and not go out to eat, than to not tip. unless the service is horrible then I even coach them..LOL I'm serious I used to be a server and some of them just don't have a clue.
It depends on the ratings of restaurents. If restaurent is air conditioned and provide good food, the tip may vary from INR 20-50. Tip amount will be INR 10 or less in other restaurents.
Depeneds which city or country, tip etiquette varies.I usually give 10% of the cost of the meal but If I am happy with the service then I throw in a little extra.
