I've just made your recipe, it's in the oven. I didn't look at the pics and only used the 'list'...
of ingredients. I used white sugar. Will it still be ok?
sammii78. Hi. I have never made or heard of a Fruit Cake being made with white sugar, that does not mean it cant be used.
I am only guessing that white sugar may make the cake a little sweeter and paler in color.
Would very much appreciate your opinion on the flavor and texture by using the white sugar.

Thankyou so much oliversmum for replying so quickly to my query. You seem like a very interesting and lovely person from reading the info that I have managed to navigate around in here. I'm only new to this whole 'hub' thing. Well, the man of the house and the second 'little' man of the house have just tried the fruit cake (made from 'white' sugar) and they have given the thumbs up. I think it may be a little sweeter than what it would be if I had have used 'brown' sugar, but apart from that, it's still great. I used slithered almonds on top and put just a tad of rum in the mixture. Thankyou! I'll be sure to try something else of yours in the next couple of days and I'm about to head off now and read your 'hub' regarding looking after your parents.........
