What is the best way to use ginger root?
I have chopped it up into soup and pickled it - but are there better ways of using this root for health benefits?
Use it to fish and chicken dishes. or bring it to a boil, turn it into tea, add honey or a splash of lemon and you're good to go!
Besides being an interesting and complicated herbal spice for many dishes, ginger root is also an effective remedy for several maladies; including digestive problems, motion sickness, dysentery, colic, nausea and intestinal gas. It is also antiseptic, making it invaluable in treating gastrointestinal infections, including some types of food poisoning. Ginger root effectively stimulates blood circulation and helps regulate blood pressure; induces sweating and helps reduce body temperature in the case of high fevers. It also aids respiratory conditions including coughs, and mild asthma symptoms. Just grate 1/2 teaspoon into a hot cup of your favorite tea - herbal and traditional work equally well. Savor the aroma and sip slowly until the complaint passes. Ginger is also an excellent addition to meat rubs and gravies.
I peel the ginger root and then dice a very small amount of the ginger to a cup of green tea.
