Should I cook raw spinach before putting it in a lasagne?
I don't want it to turn out too watery.
Of course not, you will loose a bit of the flavour when you pre-cook. Put it in the lasagne and it will all stay in one place!
Should only go in a few minute before baking though! It doesn't take long to cook so I would never pre-cook it before putting it in anything else!
Thanks for the advice Matthew! I've never cooked with raw spinach before- I usually just serve it as salad.
If I'm doing a tomato-based sauce to go in the lasagne, then all I would do is "wilt" the leaves into the sauce during the last couple of minutes of cooking it.
If I'm doing a cheese sauce (e.g. for tuna, spinach and sweetcorn lasagne), then I do cook the spinach separately. I sautee it in butter for a few minutes, then layer it with the sauce so that it's separate from it.
