Does anyone know where I can find out what foods the Germans had available to them during WWII?

I keep finding all these websites and articles about rationing in Britain and I could easily find out what Americans had available to them since I live in the States, but most of my novels take place in Germany during WWII.  Anyone with any information or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

If you Google 'What foods were available in Germany in WW2, there are a bunch of hits. They got their food by plundering the foods from the countries they invaded, so they did not suffer rationing. The  most interesting that I found was this: http://histclo.com/mat/rat/cou/rat-gerw2.html

Thank you, Becky!  I saw that one but I was hoping for more specifics. I found an Axis history forum that had info on rationing but no mention of dishes they may have eaten...

There were other articles saying what types of dishes they ate. I saw some as I was going through some of them.

You could try approaching the history dept at your local college or university. They should have some info and be able to point you to other sources as well.

no problem, good luck in your research and I would love to read your stories when you're done. I spent some years in Germany as a child and love history

Thank you, Becky!  That is a very helpful link!  Marntzu, really?  I haven't been to Germany yet, but I'm dying to go!  Maybe in the next couple of years smile  It would really do my novels and stories a lot of good, I think.
