I grew up eating cereal and Pop-Tarts, but my kids ... Wow. They will eat just about anything.

Have you ever had chili ... for breakfast? What non-traditional breakfast foods have you eaten in your life?

I don't ever remember having chili for breakfast but as a young man in my late teens and early twenties, I well remember consuming a wide variety of takeaway leftovers for breakfast that I had bought when the pub closed the previous evening. That covers everything from fish and chips, to a variety of Chinese or Indian meals, to what were "allegedly" authentic Turkish doner kebabs. I look back in wonder at how my stomach coped with the congealed grease and other horrific substances, as I rarely if ever reheated them before I ate them. Certainly couldn't do it now... sad

I did eat some cold pizza in college. I suppose it's a matter of expediency and convenience. If you can grab it, eat it, and go, you've just had breakfast. I obviously need to expand my breakfast culinary horizons. Kebabs instead of Cheerios!

It may sound weird (and probably is) but I have always been against eating "breakfast" food at breakfast. I mean why can't I have a big bowl of chili for breakfast and an omelet for dinner? I've always wondered why we had to follow these breakfast times at restaurants. It just seems weird that everyone is kind of told they have to eat a certain thing at a certain time.  I do make traditional breakfast for my children, but I never eat it. I prefer lunch for breakfast.

As a family we have "breakfast for dinner" twice a month. This may be the ONLY time my children eat traditional breakfast food. Hot Pockets, chicken nuggets, and bologna sandwiches beat Captain Crunch and toast every time. You're not weird at all!

Growing up in the 70's most of my breakfasts were either English based,  like beans on toast and poached egg. or even cereal. But I remember a couple times that my mum was in the hospital, my dad was at work and my aunt was taking care of us kids. and she made a warm apple pie, it was good and thought nothing about it being not so healthy LOL heck we were kids what did we know. LOL...

Now, I have what ever is available, even left over pizza LOL
