Do you have to use the programmable feature on coffee makers?

Many coffee makers nowadays come with programmable brewing.  Can you still make coffee without using this feature?

I have had coffee makers with programmable brewing for 10 years or more, but have only used this feature a handful of times.  All of the coffee makers I have seen have a way to brew immediately without using the programmable feature.

That's great news because it seems very difficult nowadays to find a coffee maker without the automatic brewing features.

No, you do not HAVE to use the feature.  I've never seen a coffee maker without a manual brew setting.

But we've used the auto-brew for years and years.  We are not early risers, and when we get up hubby is ready for his coffee NOW, not after a brew cycle completes, so we program it to be finished already when we get up.  It will hold hot for 2 hours, so we have leeway.

It's nice to be able to brew your own coffee manually but also have the convenience of a programming feature when needed.
