Which of the automatic drip coffee makers produces the best tasting coffee?
I've had two "Mr. Coffee" coffee makers and one "Black and Decker" coffee maker in the last month. All three produced terrible tasting coffee. The coffee even smelled bad! I used three different brands of coffee in all three, and it all came out the same. Does anyone have any suggestions?
If they still make them for for individual use, instead of just commercial use, then by far the best is a Bunn coffee maker. It is expensive, but far worth the investment if you really enjoy your coffee.
Thank you for responding to my question! We have a Bunn at work and it does make really good coffee! I will have to check into one for my home.
You are very welcome. I think they are around 100 dollars. But, they make a pot of delicious coffee in seconds.
Other than the individual-use makers, I've never found any coffee makers to be different. What I find makes the difference is a) whether the coffee maker and carafe are freshly cleaned, the brand and of coffee (and whether it's "bold" or "breakfast blend"), whether the coffee is freshly ground (or at least a freshly opened can), and (occasionally, where I live) whether the tap water seems higher in chlorine at some times than it usually is. Also, of course, whether I get the measurement for the taste that I like (kind of "nutty tasting" and not too strong or weak) right when I make the pot. I've made a lot of coffee over the decades and used my share of different types of makers.
