If you have a large family, (5 or more people) what are your go-to quick/easy/on-the-cheap meals?
It's amazing how much of our income goes towards food these days. I would like to be a little more budget-friendly and plan ahead and know what I'm going to buy and make on any given day. We have a family of 5, someone who is diabetic, someone who is lactose-intolerant, someone with gastroparesis, and it can be hard sometimes to accommodate everyone without making 2 separate meals. Most people say ziti or something with pasta and carbs since it stretches your dollar, but these things are detrimental to diabetes and gastroparesis. Would love to hear your secrets to a happy family dinner!
Chicken breasts + veggie
Omelettes and sausage
Salmon + veggie
The kids eat those at least 5 days of the week. When I haven't been able to get out and buy some fish/chicken they might get stuck with:
Pasta and Broccoli
Hell, I love pasta & broccoli & am not on a serious budget- I shop at Wholefoods & eat out once a week..
For those on a strenuous budget regardless of family size, there are stores like Costco & BJs where there are meats, vegetables, & other food products in bulk. Costco & BJs are very cheap & don't break the budget. In these stores, one can buy steaks, chickens, fish, & other poultry in bulk. There are also vegetables & fruits in bulk. There are also food pantries if you really want to save money on food. Many poor people go to food pantries. If there IS A WILL......THERE IS A WAY...........Be well & blessed.
