We aren't going to agree completely on anything.  It's not humanly possible.  Some things posted we're going to violently disagree with.  That being said, there's no need to question each others intelligence, heritage, competence, spelling or choice of socks.  As long as no rules are violated why don't we just write what we want.  You write what you want and I'll do the same.  If you don't agree tell me.  I'll do the same.  I don't know what hub etiquette is but as soon as I read comments with phrases like 'are you an idiot' , 'moronic conservative' , 'you're a fool' , etc. I delete the comment and or leave the forum.  One of the main problems in government as well as society now is that we can't discuss or 'argue' without name calling.  I expected as much from my boys when they were younger.  I don't expect 'Oh Yeah? Well you're an idiot' here.

ps  Even if I am an idiot I would expect you to have the courtesy not to tell me.  I might not realize it and you could damage my self esteem.

Actually you should be flattered by such responses. It shows that your argument is strong and that your opponent is absent of an intelligent counter and is forced to make the argument personal. Personally I would leave those comments for all to see so they know the character of those they might encounter here.

Know what?  I didn't think of it that way.  I do believe you're right and I do believe that's what I'll do.  Thanks

leeberttea, that would be my approach too.  I may not respond to that kind of thing or I may respond with my version of reason (or whatever I felt like, or didn't feel like, saying) - but I'm a big fan of leaving things out there for all to see.  They say that sunlight is the best disinfectant.

It is sad, though, that's the way the world bounces nowadays....I really thought when I grew up I'd be able to leave the name-calling behind and not have to deal with it anymore.....hmm

Aah, but it's been going on between "adults" forever! Look up Jefferson's (yes, Thomas Jefferson's) campaigning.

tobey and lee your both right. this is for fun, extra money and discusion. I think people use insults because they cant come up with legit reasons to arguement.

I love those comments.  It's fun to play with small minds.  Usually they don't come back and defend themselves, which is too bad, but, meh.  Still fun to pick apart.

using insults is just an easy way to back out of an argument. i agree with optimus.

Tobey...your track record, at least in your posts recently about the President, shows your own insulting ways...

It is one thing to hurl a word like "idiot" or "fool."

But it is another to (intentionally or otherwise) insult people with your nonsense propaganda...

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction....

There are some here who read what you write and never take their fact finding a step further....  They read the self-fulfilling prophecy of lies that you concoct and, wanting to justify their own flawed beliefs, they follow along for the ride..

It is one thing to stand against the policies of the President...it is another to try to fabricate nonsense in order to shock and awe people..

But I realize that what I might be writing here may as well be falling on deaf ears.....

Tobey - Pretty Panther cut you up yesterday for the false post you made - misquoting Obama and drawing ridiculous conclusions from that phony post. And now you want a standard of conduct which includes respect for you and your opinions even if they are based on deceit.

I don't like it when hubbers lack of creativity leads them to insults like 'fool' and 'idiot'. For the hubber who is deliberately deceptive, it's better to expose the fraud and ask the author if he thinks his parents will ever get married.

There are a few people here who call names and insult everyone who disagrees with them yet say they are being attacked when they receive back exactly what they give.
