    Associated Press Release - Utah

"The State Developmental Center in American Fork will lay off up to 45 workers in upcoming weeks because of a $6 million budget cut.

Superintendent Karen Clarke said the school has been discussing the impact of budget cuts with parents, staff and community.

More than 200 developmentally disabled residents who are unable to speak or care for themselves live at the school.

The cuts are coming because the Legislature has cut the school’s budget by $2 million, and the federal government has cut $4 million in funding."

We have money for Bankers... money for War... money to throw a new party every other week at the White House.

But when it comes to funding services for people who TRULY need them... well then we don't have money.  Sad that Budget Cuts have to hit the hardest to those that rely on them the most.  I'm sure the State isn't about to Cut the Governors FREE Chev Suburban - he gets a brand new one every year just like a private sector executive would.

The Government is going to stick it to us by cutting the budgets of programs which hurt the most, and appeal widely to the "Shock Factor" of the public.

The state's budget is separate from the federal budget and the state is responsible for itself.  I think the state should cut public employee pensions and contributions myself and cut services so that at least it covers the basic need.

Sadly $4 million of the cut is Federal.  I guess disabled adults who are unable to care for themselves should be allowed to die... but God forbid Greedy Bankers lose the Title to the summer home.

As far as I know the government is not allowed to take over someone's property just because they're pissed at them.  The reduction of financial support that the state gets from the fed in no way negates the responsibility of the state to budget as well as they can under reduced circumstances so that at least the basics of care are being provided.  No one should have to die.

You know, it's funny, that's exactly what I said about healthcare...

That was said years ago when it became law that ER's couldn't turn people away because they had no insurance.

See, as discussed at length during the healthcare debate, the ER is only required to stabilize you. Stabilize is different from cure. Additionally, it hasn't seemed to do anything about the huge numbers of healthcare cost related bankruptcies.

I don't think they will have much choice...I just hope they make the most compassionate decisions possible...not greedy or manipulative ones.

The elite that try to continue to control us are cutting off their own hands through the way they think they can manipulate the people into being slaves to the system...

we need to have enough people awake and willing to lead/show better ways to do things, so as to fill the void when we "starve the elites" out of their positions

You will never get all the special interests out of it. Did you know the US Treasury gives tax breaks to foundations that fund illegal settlements in Israel?? Get that? Tax money funding illegal activity!

And you all cry about Mexicans? Pulleeeeeeeze. At least immigrants work here...what do yuppie settlers from New York or Europe do to deserve tax dollars? And break the law to boot?

Psha. It's all in what pisses you off.

Like for instance, a writer on Huffpo wrote an articel saying that the Rethugs are not voting for unemployment because they want people to suffer so they can blame Obama and give them a shoe-in back to power. Get that?

Let people do with nothing so you can get your power back.....

That ranks right up there with the banks. Yet people will buy into their bullarkey!
