Eukanuba Naturally Wild Dog Food

   Recently the food was recalled, did your Dog get sick from eating this brand. I experienced illness with my dog in the Ohio area, need to hear from you, thanks, scb2649

   I'm not a Eukanuba fan or a fan of any dog food that is manufactured by a human grade company. Any pet food manufactured by a company that also makes food condiments, soaps, toothpaste, bandaids, candy, etc, isn't a pet food I want to use. Most brands of dog food are manufactured by Mars, Colgate, and Proctor and Gamble; there are only a select number that are manufactured by private labels, and these are better for your dog as they're more nutritious and made of higher quality ingredients and less fillers.
   
   
   I wrote a blog post about the recall when it came out. Some types of Iams were also on the recall.

   It was a salmonella recall and there were no reported illnesses.  If you think you dog became ill from salmonella from this food you need to have it confirmed by a vet and report to the company and the aspca.

   You're right. They believe that they caught it very early on before anyone got sick. There were three different types included, between Eukanuba and Iams.

      it was the Naturally Wild Eukanuba. I purchased on 7/11, my dog was sick off and on, it became serious on 8/8, up all night vomiting with heavy blood in stool.  took her to Vet, gave her shots and meds, she recovered some, but got sick again. When I went to pet store to buy more food , then I saw the recall. Took her off Eukanuba food, started her on Natural Balance, and started treatment again,. The same shots and meds, she recovered fine, all is well now. The Vet stated it could have been the food, the shots and meds he gave were for Salamonilla. I am working with Iam's (same Company). They are very slow in contacting me and my vet. If is was not the dog food, why did she recover with the same meds once taken off the food?. I have some of the food left, I may have it tested.

   I work at a pet store with a pretty high volume and their were only a couple of cases with dogs getting sick, unfortunately they can't prove it was the food so they can't prove it's them even though we know it is.

   Well the first step would be to report it and send a polite request for your vet bill to be covered and the cost of the food refunded.  If you don't ask, you won't get.

   Don't know whether it has anything to do with sickness or not, but my Schnauzer has black bumps and lumps when taking the brand.  After treatment, and changing the brand of dog food, the bumps did not re-appear, but somehow the fur has been damaged with scars.  So, have to seek repair to the scars in his skin, but at the very least the new brand did not cause the bumps to surface.

      I may not have been the brand, but an ingredient within the particular dog food that caused the reaction.
      
      rebekahELLE, Blue Buffalo is a great brand of dog food. It's manufactured by a private label not a human-grade product brand.

   I don't know about eukanuba, but I recently switched dog foods to Blue Buffalo and my dog loves it and seems more energetic and alert.

    I would not trust the Eukanuba dog food. They have ingredients in their dog food. That could potentially get your dog sick.
    
    If the dog food has wheat, corn, by-products, grains. Also, artificial colors, flavors and preservatives are harmful to your dogs health. AVOID dog food with the chemical preservatives BHA, BHT and Ethoxyquin.
    
    
    Premium dog food is better than the economy cheaper dog food. I use Royal Canin for my dog. She loves it!
