Would You Listen or Would You Close the Window?

Last night while I was working on Hub Pages (but of course!), the night was balmy here in the Midwest and my neighbor was talking outside.  The wind must have been blowing just the right direction, I could clearly hear every word.

It turns out he leads a local congregation and was discussing the political side of the church.  I have no idea what church.

I ended up enthralled to a point of distraction.  I closed the window and returned to Hub Pages.

What would you do?  Have you ever had this happen to you?  What did you do?

I suppose if the conversation was interesting enough - and posssibly fodder for a good short story - I would be guilty of listening. This reminds me of the dangers of that. My mother is notoriously nosy, bless her heart. Years ago, as we sat in beach chairs on an East Coast beach, she became so enthralled by a conversation taking place between a couple the next "blanket" over that she found herself leaning over to catch their whispers. In fact, she leaned over so far that her chair tipped over and she landed face down in the sand! Of course, it didn't teach her a thing about not being so nosy. Now in her late 70s, she's still at it!

As long as someone wasn't being hurt or robbed....I would close the window.  I need a quite space to do my writings...no distractions from the outside world.
