1) The Godfather
2) The Last Don (this is based on another novel by Mario Puzo, which is underrated in my opinion).
3)To Kill a Mockingbird (one of Gregory Peck's best performances)
4)Moby Dick (again, one of Gregory Peck's best performances)
5)Unforgiven
6)Bad Company (starring Laurence Fishburne and Ellen Barkin - underrated in my opinion; those two had sizzling sexual chemistry and I found myself hoping they could run away together)
7)Cape Fear (the old one starring Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum as Cady; not the one with Deniro)
8)Up (the animated movie about the old man and his flying house)
9)Dial 'M' for Murder (starring Ray Milland and Grace Kelley)
10)Star Trek The Next Generation: Nemesis

The Godfather
The Wizard of Oz
Alien
Its a wonderful life
Cinema Paradiso
Blue Velvet
The Graduate
Gone with the Wind
Singles
The Big Lebowski
Yes...the Big Lebowski!!! Best film ever made and certainly my favourite movie of all time.
Would agree with the Godfather trilogy - excellent and absolutely classic.
Adding The Postman Always Rings Twice and To Catch a Thief - b/c both are old Hollywood done well.

I would have to say, like so many others, The Godfather Trilogy, the first one is as close as you can get to a perfect movie which combines countless genres, features a stunning script and cinematography plus a powerful cast who all shine.
Others you should also add are:
Shenadoah
It's a Wonderful Life
Casablanca
Psycho
Mr. Smith Goes to Washinton
and for the sheer surrealness "Easy Rider".
