Recommend Books

   Hi everyone Just wondering if you have any fantastic books to recommend me? Not that I have a shortage, I just don't like to miss out on a great story and love reading, thanks.

      You may want to look at BBC and wikipedia's 100 books must read list! I like many books from there.

      How about a new  author and friend Jackie Gingell's book Ee Eye Addyeo (the farmer wants a wife) its about a romantic novelist Margot who is sick of living in the fast lane in London who buys a cottage in the country only to find after two weeks it is not quite what she expected, she craves the life and loves her heroines have, and then she meets Giles Farmer, will they find romance in the muck and mud.... read it and find out. 
      
      My book when it is published in the new year 'The Thin Blue Line' a true life romance, when Cally finds herself pregnant her first thought is how to get out of the mess she's in, only to find she is not just a little bit pregnant, and on counting back the weeks she realises the baby might not be her husbands, but that of French male model Daniel Le Fevre whom she met at a party, a one night stand.  Her best friend Sarah sets out to find Daniel and confront him about their night of passion only to fall head over heels in love with him but what about her husband Mike?  Mike has a secrets of his own he had a vasectomy before they were married and never told her but then he never told her about Dawn, his mistress of 15 years either!
      
      However luck is on Cally's side and the dates given by the scan confirm the baby is that of her husband Paul, who's not quite the man she married.  He's doubled in size!  Now he is on a quest to get fit and lose the fat, for he has a secret too, he saw his wife leave the nightclub that January night arm in arm with Daniel and now his wife is pregnant, and it's eating him up inside that it might not be his baby after all!
      
      It took me five months to write and I have several publishers interested, all I need to do now is make my mind up who will be the lucky one, so watch this space!

      You will never go wrong reading anything by Cormack McCarthy  - No Country for Old Men - is so very good.

   What kind of novels interest you; is there a specific genre which you prefer?
   
   I've just finished reading Storm Constantine's "The Ghosts of Blood and Innocence", a Fantasy novel, and really enjoyed that.  I have now begun reading Carlos Ruiz Zafon's "The Angel's Game", which seems good too.

      I like a bit of everything really. At the moment I'm reading the True Blood series but I want something a bit different. I like anything love stories, war, drama anything really. I'll have to look for them

         In that case, try A Farewell to Arms by Hemingway. It is a love story, war novel, and drama all in one.

   Circle of Fire by Riva Shaw, I thought it was excellent. It's historical fiction, set in a fictional world. I really really recommend it.

   Hi Sarah, I read your hub, "My Favourite Books So Far" and judging by your list, I think you will like the novel Out Stealing Horses by Per Pettersen. This is one of the most beautiful, unforgettable books I have read within the last year. Do read it if  you get the chance and tell me what you think! Cheers!

   Have you read Memoirs of a Geisha, Gone With The Wind and Roots?  So far these are the only stories that I can think of.

    The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind is pretty good. That is if your into reading about wizards and magic.

    I love Howl's Moving Castle or anything by Diana Wynne Jones a wonderful fantasy authoress. Anything by her is a classic for children and adults alike.
