I started writing a hub about finance. Wrote a nice title and the first paragraph around 200 words. I checked the revenue potential it had $$$$$. A day later, I started writing more, now I have around 800 words, now when I checked the revenue potential it has only $$$$ ( only 4).
Did some of you understand how this works?
I think it is a very rough guide it does not always relate to what happens with my hubs. Others may find it more accurate.
Could it be that your hub now has more competition on the topic than yesterday? Not sure how it works really.
It changes from day to day and what the interest level is of all during that time. It's a funny thing no doubt!
Maybe with more words the focus of the page Adsense wise has shifted slightly. But as others say - $$$$ v $$$$$ - not a huge amount of difference. Some of mine have a single $. Not too bothered.
It's visitors I want. Then clicks. Then income.
Mark, I've been using Market Samurai to test keywords and finance is one of the highly priced ones. So, that's the reason it had lots of dollar signs.
The reason it sunk was because it was diluted by other words. So, what you do is remove all the low paying keywords so that you are only left with the high paying keywords...
Thanks Sophia. I love the expression "diluted by other words". It's what I aim for. A simple idea expressed through writing - and then 500 hundred dilution words to pad out the rest of the page.
Thanks Sophia. I'm not a great writer or deep thinker, not well educated or travelled - I have no interest in the arts or study and research - but I do like the few words I know and playing with them.
Here's to you and me both for 2011. And everyone else of course.
Mark, you're a charismatic writer and that's why people will read you. I was once approached by a semi literate guy in London and, despite the atrocious English, his voice was powerful and his story compelling. When I did the edit, I left some of the, "I didn't do nothing's" in because they were part of his character.
The book was accepted for publication, was used as a text book by universities and schools, and later produced as a play. It was very successful.
So, write on, Sir Mark!
Thank you very much indeed Sophia. Difficult to respond with being guilty of the attention grubbing thing. Yes, the reason I tried my hand at this was because I could play the forum game quite well - even when I didn't know what I was talking about it seemed people listened.
So hopefully I can sell an idea or some humour - hell maybe even some product.
But thankyou again - I am not grubbing for praise BUT the feedback on here helps enormously in trying to make the most of what I have to offer.
Thanks Sophia. I am just curious, how do u know this dilusion trick?
You mean dilution?
I read it somewhere, then experimented!
If one has too many keywords, it appears that google has a larger choice to select from. Google then uses low paying keywords as well as highpaying keywords. However, if one only uses a few keywords, all of which are pricey, then that is all that google provides...
I think!
And, of course, I could be 100% wrong.
How does removing the lower paying keywords affect your traffic, thinking of the competition on higher paying words?

I thought I would start publishing some search engine tips to help everyone to get some extra hits from the search engines.1. Long TailDo you know what the Long Tail is. Its where you use a 3-5 word title for your Hub and you can find some long tail titles that you can rank very well for. You would...

Go to stats for your individual hubs and look for any that have 'frequently searched keywords that aren't in the title. Now ADD them to the title. I did this with the 10 or so hubs I could do it for and still I'm getting about 150 more views per day.

Many of us met HP by chance. Many of us came here looking for a way to earn and many of us came to express ourselves. For me it was a mixture of both.I wanted to make money with the thing I love to do the best...writing. However, there are some things I wish I knew back then. What is the one thing...

Hi I was wondering about how to gain some traffic to my hubs I currently get only around maybe 5 to 10 people looking at my hub a day but I can't earn a source of income with the kind of traffic. I'm looking for ways to improve my traffic and how to get noticed on Google Searches. Also is there a...

When you have a hub that touches on several things, is it better to focus on fewer key tags- or use them all?Does having too many key tags hurt you as far as getting googled?I've just gone back in and deleted some of mine that didn't really seem as relevant now that I looked at them again.It's...

An editor reviewed this particular hub and decided that due to the fact that it has been extensively covered they could not get it on Toughnickel. To my surprise I found it doing well on the main site - HubPages.
