Name a film(s) you would like to see analyzed (not reviewed).
I have a few films in mind already (see below). However, recent films appear far more popular/relevant for HubPage readers.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Potential Film Analysis List:
- Phonebooth (2002)
- The Village (2004)
- Hard Candy (2005)
- The Number 23 (2007)
- The Town (2010)
Loved Phonebooth. Mostly one actor, many monologues, shot basically in one location, very few extras, and didn't they use a limited amount of cameras?
Yes to all of the above. It was shot in a sparse 28 days, in one location. The script was originally pitched to Hitchcock back in the mid-60's, who passed on it, believing it was an unfilmable story and wouldn't keep the audiences attention.
My analysis would revolve around the underlying Christian-like spiritual element. The mortal man (Farrell) forced to expose himself, seeking forgiveness from 'God' (The Caller aka Sutherland) who is mysteriously above him demanding a confession of sins and a promise of changing his life. For what it's worth...
I have pondered doing one on Inception. So many people have already posed analysis, many of them assessing that "everything is a dream" (which Nolan has actually refuted in interviews). I could do an analysis from a non-"everything is a dream" perspective.
But I absolutely loved the film and even after three viewings, it still leaves me enamored in its size, scope and beauty.
interesting list - Patty Inglish has taken an interesting and informative look at the religious aspects of Tron: Legacy - why not take a whack at Avatar? Lots of fodder there.
what about Lord of the Rings? what is so special about this film according to your film analytic view point.
LOTR is a traditional 'good vs. evil' story that revolves around the ring, which in my mind, truly symbolizes power. When put in the hands of good, power evolves into happiness and freedom among all people. But when in the hands of evil, power turns corrupt, dark, and becomes a tool for enslavement.
From a real world perspective, Frodo/Saruman could be looked at as "the small average kind-hearted working class" and Sauron as "big evil corporations" who attempt to enslave them by use of power (the ring).
Great analysis. I agree with your view and just wanna add my personal opinion that is a few fantasy characters also helped this film to touch the audience, people really do like a blend of fantasy and reality. Thanks a lot
Absolutely agree with your added opinion. One of the often forgotten reasons for audiences to see films is to escape the reality they live in, to see and be entertained through fantasy-based themes and stories!
Thanks for the compliments. If you are interested - follow me. I will be doing more analysis very, very soon. had difficulty picking my new few projects to tackle, outside of my busy daily routine!
