When requesting permission to use a photo - how best to describe Hub Pages? Page rank? Traffic?
What statistic do you think are critical to the owner of the photo to persuade them to allow the use of the photo on Hub Pages?
I don't think they care about the page rank or traffic or how popular the site is. They just want you to be honest and tell them you think their article is good, which is how you found them.
Like "I am making an article about XYZ and was searching for the perfect picture for it when I came across yours. You have a wonderful article about it and I was hoping I could ask if I could use your picture for my article?
None. I would not mention it at all.
I would use Zemanta (a blog/email editor plugin) to search for freely usable pictures of the topic you want, unless of course, you need a very specific picture not available elsewhere.
I would not overplay the traffic or page rank element, or they might get the idea that they want a licence fee in return?

Following the advice of a fellow hubber I did a search query on myself on Google. The first several hubs which came up were normal and then I found one of my hubs that led to a "Secret Search Engine" labs by another hubber. This hub has lost a tremendous amount of traffic and now it looks...
