This is cut and pasted from the "Help" section Shayla was referring to:

If you would like to close your HubPages account please sign in to the account that you'd like to close, unpublish all of your hubs, and send us an email request with the subject "close my account" and the username of the account you'd like to close in the body of your message (for verification). Note that:

•Account closure is permanent and unrecoverable
•The username of a closed account will not be made available again
•If you are in the process of applying for Google AdSense through HubPages, we recommend completing that process before closing your account. If you close your account, your application is unlikely to be approved and it may significantly complicate a future application.
If you would like to close a different account, something other than HubPages, you've come to the wrong place. We are not affiliated with any other Website or company and we can not help you.

    Welcome to Hubpages! smile

What seems to be the problem? Why would you want to cancel your account? Secondly, it's cost is free, so deletion, kinda makes no sense.

But, post again, maybe the "community" of hubbers can help. wink

I actually did search the help section, trying to use keywords like "cancel account", and  got no where.  I don't have an interest in being a member, I write several blogs and keep up with more social networking that I can handle now.  I only joined because I had no choice.  I would like to use a photo on one of the posts, but I would like permission, of course.  There was apparently no way for me to write to the person with out becoming a member and then posting to the larger audience.  Which I didn't want to do, but I really like the photo.  Anyway, my post was deleted because someone felt I was trying to promote myself.  I had the blog address, because I thought the man would like to know where his photo would be used.  Since all of that nonsense, I now realize what the situation is, I'm going to try again to post a message to this person, and just tell him to contact me if he wants to see where it will be used.  It's really not that important and has taken entirely too much time already.  Thanks, though.

You do realize that you cannot simply take someone's photo and reprint it without permission, even if you do give attribution? That's a violation of copyright.

Hey Irohner, I think that is why she said she wanted to get permission from the man. wink

It sounded like she wanted permission, but wasn't going to wait for it:

I guess that was your interpretation.
This only points to a location for it to be used. This doesn't mean the person is going to actually post it without permission.

              Just a thought

Sorry you have trouble locating what you needed. The FAQ's page and Learning Center are usually where I would direct you.
You might be surprised how Hubpages can help you with your blogs. Hubpages as a unit ranks better than blogs. Not to mention, the juice provided by members viewing what you write is gold, because of many factors.
I take this hubber has their email notifications set to only members, which is why you had to join. However, once you did, you should be able to email them directly and then all email communications would be direct from your email account and have nothing to do with Hubpages.
I'm glad you like the photo and I hope you get this person's permission to use it.
Not sure I understand- your post at the beginning of this thread is still there. Or did you post a Hub? that was pulled down?
        Good thought. smile

It might be best contact him directly via his email on Hubpages. wink

But, it is important and any time spent on it isn't meaningless unless you make it meaningless.

        But, good luck. smile

It look to me like she has posted a request for use of the photo through the man's hub, and he has denied her comment because it contained an external link. He would then have no way of contacting her.

Good advice you gave cags, to contact the hubber through the contact button on his profile. Unless I'm mistaken, there is nothing on a hub itself about how to contact the author, except through the comment section.

Hey Izzy, your last statement is untrue. On each Hub, there is a contact "Hubber" link. Or at least there is on each of mine. smile
