When and/or where do you get your best ideas to write about, in other words when does the spark and inspiration light up?
Anything and everything, the news, conversation with people, what you see and sense .... may be any input to the brain can fire your imagination for a hub.. keep your eyes and ears open and have a notepad or a device to record and use it to record what catches your interest and you are well on your way to nonstop writing..or typing..
I suggest that you write what you know best or what you are passionate about , may be your hobbies or sport anything on those lines.
Yes you are right, I sometimes get an idea just before going to bed, or in the most awkward of places and if I don't write it down or think about it enough, I tend to forget it a couple of hours later or the next morning.
Wow! I just read your profile page , you must be kidding asking such a question.. I think I need to learn from you!!
Welcome to HP
I have always been interested in different things, ideas come to you in the most awkward of places, sometimes in bed, sometimes in the bathroom, while you are having breakfast and so on. I am really talking about the execution stage of writing really. Maybe I should have termed the question in such a manner.
The only thing Worse than having Awkward Ideas, is having Impotent ones!
Inspiration is not required. Concentration, focus, and shutting off distractions are.
Like: I will write. I am going to write right now. I will do nothing else until I have written something tangible. I am writing.
But wouldn't a flick of inspiration, a buzzing word, a term or sentence be exciting to get you on the road to "intellectual narrative?
"in other words when does the spark and inspiration light up?" Sorry to say, but for me it is when the cigarette lights up. However the great asset that it is, I still keep it to five cigarettes a day for 25 years, hoping to not kill the muse.
This has turned out to be an interesting discussion.
For me inspiration comes first then I let the idea run its course. When I let passion for the subject have its way I am often surprised to find the outcome is very different from where I started out...
Not that I am a great writer ... but I am slowly finding myself consumed by this passion to write... whether I am sleeping or taking a walk or spending time with children
Would love to hear more on this from everyone here.
If you think long enough about a topic, mull over it in your head, you become "more" inspired and the flow of ideas, and the article becomes better. I sometimes feel my fingers are doing the thinking as I hammer on the keyboard outpacing my brain. I am sure this is some kind of inspiration.
I couldn't agree more with you on that ...the more you let your mind linger on those ideas, the more passionate you become.. I can do some gardening to get all fired up and rush off to the comp.. I guess anything that makes you feel relaxed and happy helps you become more creative and inspired .
And Oh yeah! the smell of cigarettes, kills any inspiration that might be there

When do your best writing ideas inspire you?Sometimes, my inspiration comes at 2 AM and I find myself up 'til 4 getting that story on paper or screen. Other times, by 11 PM, my mind has shut down and I can barely remember why I love to write. Those 2 AM sparks often require drastic...
